Bitcoin rallied to a two-year high on Monday, breaking above $65,000 as a wave of money carried it within striking distance of record levels. The price hit a session high of $65,537 early in Europe, having already hit a new two-year high in Asian trading. It was last up 4% at $65,045. Bitcoin hit a record $68,999.99 in November 2021.

U.S. Federal Reserve's hawkish comments on the Bitcoin Strategic Reserve and a weaker-than-expected inflation forecast for 2025. Although the Fed implemented a widely anticipated 25-basis-point rate cut earlier this month, its projection of just two rate reductions in 2025 fell short of market expectations for three or four cuts. This cautious outlook dampened investor optimism.

Bakkt Holdings Inc., the digital-asset marketplace launched by the parent of the New York Stock Exchange, is exploring a potential sale amid a spike in crypto-related takeover activity, according to people familiar with the matter. Bakkt has been working with a financial advisor to weigh a range of strategic options, including a breakup, said the people, who asked to not be identified because the details aren’t public. No final decision has been made and Bakkt could opt to remain independent. A representative for Alpharetta, Georgia-based Bakkt declined to comment.
