What is climate misinformation, and why does it matter?
An example is greenwashing, a way that businesses make their environmental credentials seem more environmentally friendly than they actually are. Some fashion brands, for example, tout their use of renewable, natural fibers and recyclable packaging, distracting from the countless racks of fast, disposable fashion they produce every few weeks. Disinformation, on the other hand, is when climate deniers and other groups or official organizations deliberately publicize false information or spread hoaxes to further their own agenda against climate science and government polices intended to benefit the environment. How does misinformation influence efforts to tackle climate change? Major fossil fuel companies like Shell, Exxon Mobil, BP and the Global Climate Coalition, a front group for companies with links to fossil fuel industry that was disbanded in 2002, have been accused of discrediting climate science or hiding their continued fossil fuel investments with lobbying and feel-good ads since the late 1970s. Groups like The Empowerment Alliance in the US or the Responsible Energy Citizen Coalition in Europe, for example, use a tactic known as astroturfing — allegedly acting like a spontaneous grassroots movement — to support natural gas derived from fossil fuels and discredit green policies, often with funding from unclear sources. Misinformation and lies are also published by certain media outlets, or promoted by populist politicians.

Joe Biden chose Kamala Harris as running mate in 2020 election under pressure from Barack Obama, reveals book
Kamala Harris was not Joe Biden's first choice as his running mate because he knew that she was not up to the job. He preferred Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer as his running mate in 2020 but succumbed to public pressure. Veteran Washington journalist Charlie Spiering has made this startling revelation in his book 'Amateur Hour: Kamala Harris in the White House'. He has written in the book that Biden chose Harris days before that year’s virtual Democratic National Convention after promising to select a woman. He also wrote that Biden chose Kamala Harris under pressure from former President Barack Obama.

Mamata reiterates demand to declare Netaji's birth anniversary as a national holiday
West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Tuesday said her repeated demands to announce Netaji's birth anniversary as a national holiday went unheard for years. Speaking on the birth anniversary of Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose at Red Road, Banerjee apologized for that. «Netaji stands for unity, trust and sacrifice…Had we listened to what Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose said before independence, had we followed his words, India would have been a more developed country. Bose focused on three things: determination, dedication and devotion.

US, Britain hit targets in Yemen as Huthis vow to strike back
Yemen's Huthis on Tuesday over their attacks on Red Sea shipping, as the Iran-backed rebels vowed to hit back. The latest raids, heard by residents of the rebel-held capital Sanaa around midnight (2100 GMT), hit eight Huthi targets, a joint US-UK statement said, while the Huthis listed 18 strikes across their territory. US and British forces carried out a first wave of strikes against the rebel group earlier this month, and the United States launched further air raids against missiles that Washington said posed imminent threats to both civilian and military vessels. But the Huthis have vowed to continue their attacks — just one part of a growing crisis in the Middle East linked to the Israel-Hamas war, which has raised fears of a broader war directly involving Iran. The latest strikes were against «eight Huthi targets in Yemen in response to the Huthis' continued attacks against international and commercial shipping as well as naval vessels transiting the Red Sea», Washington and London said in a joint statement with other countries that supported the military action. «These precision strikes are intended to disrupt and degrade the capabilities that the Huthis use to threaten global trade and the lives of innocent mariners,» the statement said. The US Central Command said in a separate statement that the targets of the strikes «included missile systems and launchers, air defence systems, radars, and deeply buried weapons storage facilities». — Attacks won't go 'unpunished' - British Foreign Secretary David Cameron said the Huthis had carried out more than 12 attacks on shipping since the first wave of joint strikes on January 11. «What we have done again is send the clearest possible message that we will

Frost quakes hit Chicago. Know what is it?
weather phenomenon known as frost quakes as frigid temperatures griped the area. These occurrences produce distinctive loud booming or popping sounds and trigger minor earthquake-like tremors due to the impact of extremely cold conditions, as per a report. Trent Ford, the state climatologist for Illinois, noted the absence of a formal reporting system for frost quakes, a phenomenon resulting from the rapid freezing of the ground. Despite the lack of an official mechanism, Ford has come across reports of these events through social media channels. Additionally, he personally encountered some instances of frost quakes, scientifically referred to as cryoseism, in the past, CNN reported.
