Bata India appoints Neeru Gupta as general counsel to head it's legal operation
Bata has appointed Meeru Gupta as general counsel and head of legal. An alumnus of Delhi University, Gupta had served previously as Varun Beverages – RJ Corporation, where she led the legal practice, formulated litigation strategies and managed cross-border acquisitions. Over two decades veteran Gupta started her career with Reliance Energy (BSES Rajdhani Power Ltd.) in 2004. Subsequently, she joined Philips India as manager in its legal department in 2008 and rose to became director Legal and Compliance. At Philips India, she was instrumental in key decision-making processes across the Lighting, Consumer Lifestyle, and Healthcare divisions, said the company in its statement.

US prosecutors recommend DOJ criminally charge Boeing as deadline looms
Justice Department officials that criminal charges be brought against Boeing after finding the planemaker violated a settlement related to two fatal crashes, two people familiar with the matter told Reuters. The Justice Department must decide by July 7 whether to prosecute Boeing. The recommendation of prosecutors handling the case has not been previously reported. In May, officials determined the company breached a 2021 agreement that had shielded Boeing from a criminal charge of conspiracy to commit fraud arising from two fatal crashes in 2018 and 2019 involving the 737 MAX jet.

Two thieves in police custody over burglary at Anupam Kher's office
police have arrested two persons in connection with a burglary at actor Anupam Kher's office this week, an official said on Saturday. Majid Sheikh and Daler Bahreem Khan were taken into custody from the Jogeshwari area on Friday night for committing the crime, he said. Police said the two were serial thieves and would travel to various places in the city by autorickshaws to steal. The two struck on Wednesday at Kher's office on Vira Desai Road in the Amboli area and took away negatives of a film produced by his company and Rs 4.15 lakh. They also committed theft in Vile Parle that day, the official said.

Commerce min engaging with different departments on India, Korea FTA upgrade talks: Official
trade agreement (FTA) moving forward between India and Korea, the department of commerce is engaging with different ministries, including heavy industries, steel, and chemicals, to prepare the offer list, an official said. Preparation of the list is part of the negotiations, which are underway, for the upgrade of the existing FTA between the two countries, dubbed as comprehensive economic partnership agreement (CEPA). The agreement was operationalised in January 2010. So far, 10 rounds of talks have been concluded. The official said both sides have exchanged the request list and «are working on the offer list» and for that the commerce ministry is holding discussions with different ministries, including steel, heavy industries, textiles, chemicals and petrochemicals.

Under-construction bridge collapses in Bihar's Motihari, third one in less than a week
under-construction small bridge collapsed in East Champaran district on Sunday in third such incident in Bihar in less than a week, officials said. No casualty was reported in the incident that happened in Ghorasahan block in Motihari, they said. The 16-metre-long bridge was being built over a canal by the state's Rural Works Department (RWD) to connect Amwa village to other areas of the block. It was being built at a cost of Rs 1.5 crore, they added. «The exact cause of the incident is not yet known. It is a serious matter and a departmental inquiry has been ordered. Strict action will be taken against those found guilty,» Additional Chief Secretary of RWD Dipak Kumar Singh told PTI.
