The state has agreed to address issues related to strengthening the health infrastructure and providing necessary infrastructure for doctors, people in the know have said. The junior doctors submitted a memorandum to chief minister Mamata Banerjee during their meeting which started at around 7 pm and continued for almost three hours. Mamata Banerjee, Chief Secretary Manoj Pant, Director General of Police Rajeev Kumar and Junior Health Minister (MoS) Chandrima Bhattacharya were present at Monday's meeting. However, the state government officials said that the junior doctors' demand seeking the resignations of the Commissioner of Police, Director of Medical Education (DME) and Health Secretary, involved an administrative process.

Tea Association of India (TAI) stated with Tea Board, India revising its Crop figure to 1393.66 Mkg from its earlier 1367.70 Mkg for the year 2023 coupled with the early closure Order by Tea Board, India, the industry is looking at a drop of production to the tune of around 160-170 Mkgs during the year 2024. TAI in statement stated the Production figure of North Indian Tea Industry reflect a precarious situation of the industry, consequent to the constant onslaught of insufficient rainfall and excessive heat till May and excessive rainfall in June & July, hampering production of the crop to a great extent during the current cropping season up to the month of July 2024. The data released by Tea Board of India indicates a drop of production of around 11% in Assam and around 21% in West Bengal up to the month of July 2024 as against last year during the same period. Sandeep Singhania, President TAI stated that due to the unprecedented weather condition, tea growing regions of West Bengal and Assam has witnessed weakening of tea bushes which has further aggravated by severe pest and disease infestation, indicating a further crop loss in the coming months.

West Bengal government invited the protesting junior doctors to Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee's residence in Kalighat, to end the impasse over junior doctor's protest, which entered its seventh day in front of State Health Department Headquarters 'Swasthya Bhawan" and crossed 38 days. Chief Secretary Manoj Pant has said in his letter that this is the «fifth and last» time the government is reaching out to the junior doctors for the meeting. "...This is the fifth and final time we are reaching out to you for a meeting between the Honourable Chief Minister and your delegates," the Chief Secretary writes in his letter, adding «In view of the Honourable Supreme Court order dated 9th September 2024, directing junior doctors to resume duties by 5 PM on the 10th September 2024, it is our bounden duty, as law-abiding citizens, to follow and adhere to the apex court's directive.» The junior doctors have been stressing on a five-point demand from the beginning of the protest. The demands include the resignation of the Commissioner of Police, Director of Medical Education (DME), Health Secretary and justice of RG Kar deceased PGT doctor who were brutally raped and murdered on August 9. Following the letter, junior doctors are holding general Body meetings.

ED, RBI, tax and consumer affairs departments may be set up to combat the proliferation of online gaming platforms and ensure regulatory compliance, a DGGI report said. The GST intelligence wing of the Central Board of Indirect Taxes and Customs (CBIC) has initiated action against 118 domestic online gaming entities, and Show Cause Notices have been issued to 34 taxpayers involving tax amount of Rs 1,10,531.91 crore. The notices were issued to these gaming companies as they were not paying GST at 28 per cent rate. Furthermore, 658 offshore entities have been identified as non- registered/non-compliant entities and are being investigated by the DGGI. Also, 167 URL/websites have been recommended for blocking.

In Kakwa, Imphal West district, firing from automatic weapons left marks on our vehicles,» he claimed.
