Trump's policies may open new doors for India's defence sector: Report
Donald Trump has far-reaching implications for global trade and geopolitics. According to a report by Motilal Oswal, this policy carries mixed outcomes for exporters worldwide because it is designed to prioritize U.S. manufacturing by reducing imports, particularly from China. For India, Trump's policies present both opportunities and challenges. The Indo-Pacific defense strategy could strengthen U.S.-India collaboration, opening doors for Indian businesses in sectors such as pharmaceuticals and defense.

How Google spent 15 years creating a culture of concealment
Yahoo and confronted lawsuits involving patent, trademark and copyright claims, its executives sent out a confidential memo. «We believe that information is good,» the executives told employees in the memo. But, they added, government regulators or competitors might seize on words that Google workers casually, thoughtlessly, wrote to one another. To minimise the odds that a lawsuit could flush out comments that might be incriminating, Google said, employees should refrain from speculation and sarcasm and «think twice» before writing to one another about «hot topics». The technology was tweaked, too. The setting for the company's instant messaging tool was changed to «off the record». An incautious phrase would be wiped the next day.

Do CEOs active on social media pose a risk to companies goodwill?
Zomato chief executive office (CEO) Deepinder Goyal's recent post listing the criteria for hiring a chief of staff went viral-largely due to the wrong reasons. The social media uproar over the issue of the candidate paying ₹20 lakh to the company and drawing no compensation for a year prompted Goyal to reveal that the requirement to pay ₹20 lakh was just a filter to find the right candidate. It is the second time that the CEO had to issue a retracting statement. Earlier in March, Zomato rolled back its plan to colour code its veg fleet following social media backlash to Goyal's previous day's announcement of the plan. Changing decisions based on social media reaction may appear to be a sign of a responsive management, but repeated instances may create a perception that undermines the decision-making of the top management. It may also attract regulatory scrutiny stock valuation is impacted.

Maharashtra Assembly Polls: Narrow margins highlight close contests
Maharashtra assembly polls were won by a margin of 10,000 or less, with 33 seats having been won by 5,000 or less votes. The opposition tally could have been more disastrous as the numbers show. An analysis of the results show that the 'Ladki Bahin' scheme, the reverse caste polarisation due to the MVA overplaying the Maratha card and the work done by the Sangh led to increased voting for the Mahayuti. The BJP has 17 candidates who won by a margin of 10,000 votes and less. Of these, 10 won by a margin of 5,000 votes and less. In these seats, the BJP benefited due to the votes being divided between the opposition parties.

Individuals among us carrying out anti-national religious conversions: Yogi Adityanath
Yogi Adityanath on Sunday said there are «individuals among us» who are secretly carrying out «anti-national» religious conversions and asked youngsters to be vigilant to put an end to it. Adityanath said this while addressing a special session on the closing day of the three-day 70th National Convention of the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) held at the Deendayal Upadhyay Gorakhpur University campus. Commending the efforts of Dipesh Nair, co-founder of NGO Teach and recipient of the Prof. Yashwantrao Kelkar Award, the chief minister shared an incident related to «anti-national» religious conversions involving deaf-and-mute children. He recounted that in 2019, following the arrest of two men under false identities for plotting the killing of a seer at a temple, a thorough probe revealed their ties to a religious preacher associated with Batla House in Delhi.
