Interviews
His current WFH job was mocked as gig in an interview. A candidate shares 'humiliating' experience
digital marketing lead. What was meant to be a routine discussion about their skills and career aspirations turned into an uncomfortable and humiliating encounter, he said in post on social media. During the interview, the CEO laughed at one of their previous job roles, dismissing it as a “gig” instead of a real job, solely because it was a remote position for an overseas company. Despite attempts to explain the nature of their work, the professional felt belittled and exhausted by the interaction, he said. The situation worsened when the CEO mocked his career trajectory, pointing out that their last three jobs were in different industries. Instead of appreciating the adaptability and diverse experience, the interviewer appeared to see this as a lack of focus or commitment. The professional left the interview feeling humiliated and questioning whether this treatment was normal or an indication of something deeper about the company’s culture.

The new changing vibrant India presents huge opportunity for us: Diageo global HR director
Diageo is rolling out multiple initiatives to drive diversity and inclusion in India, says Caroline Rhodes, global HR director — learning and inclusion at the London-headquartered alcohol beverages company. On a recent visit to India, she talked to ET’s Brinda Sarkar about Diageo’s outlook towards inclusion and diversity, employee well-being and how critical India is in the context of global operations. Edited Excerpts: What are your growth plans for India? India is such a critical part of our business. We’re at about 1,400-odd corporate employees (in India), and an equal or so number in our manufacturing units across the country. Our product portfolio here is interesting because it’s not just the Diageo products we sell including Johnnie Walker, Tanqueray, Gordon’s, and Baileys, but also a large part of the United Spirits portfolio that we inherited. McDowell’s is the largest selling whiskey in the world, and with Royal Challenge there is the affiliation to the RCB men’s and women’s cricket teams.

Atishi claims Centre settling Rohingyas in Delhi; 'false narrative', says Hardeep Puri
Amit Shah on Sunday, accusing the BJP-led Centre of settling «a large number of illegal Rohingyas» in different parts of the city. With the AAP targeting Union Minister Hardeep Singh Puri over his tweets and claiming that settling these refugees here was a «conscious decision» of the BJP-led NDA government, the minister accused AAP of indulging in «politics of diversion, false narratives and half-truths». In the run-up to the Delhi Assembly polls due in February 2025, the ruling AAP and BJP have been hitting out at one another over the issue of illegal Rohingya and Bangladeshi people staying in the national capital. The BJP has already complained to the Election Commission about illegal Rohingyas and Bangladeshis registered as voters in Delhi «at the behest of AAP».
