Sanjay Raut on Saturday expressed concern over the delay in the allocation of portfolios in the Maharashtra Cabinet and questioned the Mahayuti government regarding the reason for the delay despite having an adequate majority. Speaking to the media, Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Raut said, «What is happening in government, it's is difficult to understand. The government (Mahayuti government) has been formed but no portfolio has been allocated till now. there are a lot of law and order issues..who is accountable… despite having so much majority why is so much delay.» The Maharashtra Assembly Election 2024 witnessed a decisive victory for the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)-led Mahayuti alliance, securing a landslide win with 235 seats. The results marked a significant milestone for the BJP, which emerged as the single-largest party with 132 seats.

Delhi Lieutenant Governor Delhi LG VK Saxena on Saturday gave sanction to the Enforcement Directorate to prosecute AAP chief and Former Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal in the excise policy case ahead of the Delhi assembly election. On December 5, ED sought the LG's nod to prosecute Kejriwal after it allegedly found a «huge level of corruption in framing and implementation» of the excise policy. This was mentioned in prosecution complaint no. 7 filed in the Rouse Avenue court on May 17 this year. The court took cognisance of the complaint on July 9. ED's prosecution complaint alleged that Kejriwal conspired with member of the «South Group» to receive Rs 100 crore and passed on undue benefits to private entities by formulating and implementing a “tailor-made” liquor policy.

Delhi BJP president Virendra Sachdeva met for over four hours on Thursday to screen the names of suitable candidates from among a list of over 700 compiled by the Central observers, said a top party leader associated with the exercise. «The election committee shortlisted 3-4 names of potential candidates on each of the 70 seats. These names will be further discussed and shortlisted in the next meeting of the committee likely to be held on Saturday,» he said. The names of the candidates are likely to be declared next week after the list of shortlisted candidates is discussed by the BJP's central election committee, he added.

Education Minister Jason Clare on Thursday announced the new ministerial direction, which he said would prioritize the processing of visa applications for those universities and colleges “that are operating sustainably.” Under the changes, there will be two categories of visa processing: high priority and standard. Education providers will receive quick approvals up until they hit 80% of their international student allotment, which was previously flagged under legislation to cap arrivals. After that, visas will be processed at a slower pace.
