All year, Wall Street pros have been sinking record sums of cash into the world’s largest Treasury ETF in a high-conviction bet that interest rates have peaked. All year they’ve been wrong, with an estimated $10 billion loss — yet that’s not stopping a cohort of dip buyers braving the worst market drawdown in decades.

Bethesda, Maryland-based ProShares, a prominent player in the crypto-linked ETF market, has announced a significant expansion of its product line. On October 2, 2023, the firm will launch three new exchange-traded funds (ETFs), including the ProShares Ether Strategy ETF (EETH). This will be the first ETF specifically designed to track the performance of ether, the second-largest cryptocurrency by market capitalization. In addition to EETH, ProShares is introducing two blended ETFs that aim to offer investors exposure to both bitcoin and ether, the dominant cryptocurrencies in the market.

Bitwise Asset Management, America's largest crypto index fund manager, announced the launch of two first-of-their-kind Ethereum Futures ETFs, AETH and BTOP, scheduled for October 2. These ETFs will provide investors with exposure to CME Ether futures in a regulated format, expanding Bitwise's existing suite of crypto investment products.

VanEck, a renowned player in the financial markets, has unveiled its plans to launch the VanEck Ethereum Strategy ETF (EFUT). This actively managed exchange-traded fund is strategically designed to target capital appreciation through investments in Ethereum (ETH) futures contracts. Notably, EFUT will not directly invest in ETH or any other digital assets.

Blockchain analytics firm Spot On Chain reported a significant movement in a crypto wallet associated with the historic FTX hack on September 30, 2023. The wallet, labeled 0x3e957, transferred 2,500 ETH (approx. $4.2 million) amidst the anticipation surrounding the launch of Ethereum-based ETFs in the U.S. This marks the first activity in the wallet since the hack, with the wallet still holding 12,500 ETH.

The Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) of the United States has recently announced the postponement of its decision regarding several proposals for spot Bitcoin exchange-traded funds (ETFs). This decision impacts applications from well-known entities such as BlackRock, Invesco, Bitwise, and Valkyrie, as stated in separate filings made on September 28.

Amidst fluctuating global events, Bitcoin is once again in the spotlight. As it currently trades at $26,831, marking a slight uptick of over 0.10% on Friday, but it fell nearly 3% in the last seven days. The entire cryptocurrency market holds its breath in anticipation of various influencing factors. 

Mirae Asset Mutual Fund has launched Mirae Asset Nifty IT ETF, an open-ended scheme replicating/tracking Nifty IT Total Return Index. The new fund offer or the NFO of the scheme is open for subscription and it will close on October 18. The scheme will re-open for continuous sale and repurchase from October 23. The investment objective of the scheme is to generate returns, before expenses, that are commensurate with the performance of the Nifty IT Total Return Index, subject to tracking error.

BlackRock filed for a spot bitcoin ETF with the United States Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC). It filed its application through the company that manages its family of ETFs — iShares. It set off a trend with several other traditional finance and crypto-heavy financial institutions refiling for spot ETFs.

Given the inversion in the US yield curve (long-term yields are lower than short-term yields, see chart), the 0-1-year segment offers the highest yields of 5.43% to 5.59%. Compared to this, 10-year US treasuries are offering 4.80%.

Birkenstock looked set for a tepid U.S. market debut on Wednesday as its shares were indicated to open 4% above their offer price, giving the German sandal maker a potential valuation of $9.74 billion. The company's stock was indicated to open between $46 to $48 on the New York Stock Exchange, compared with its initial public offering price of $46.
