The cryptocurrency markets were trading higher in Thursday's trading after the US Federal Reserve kept rates unchanged and Chair Jerome Powell hedged on the possible end of the rate hiking cycle. The Federal Reserve held interest rates steady on Wednesday as policymakers struggled to determine whether financial conditions may be tight enough already to control inflation, or whether an economy that continues to outperform expectations may need still more restraint. After the end of a two-day policy meeting, Powell said the better course of action for now, given the uncertainties, was to maintain the Fed's benchmark overnight interest rate in the current 5.25%-5.50% range, and see how job and price data evolve between now and the next policy meeting in December. Meanwhile, after the Fed's decision, the global cryptocurrency market cap surged by 2.45% to over $1.3 trillion in the last 24 hours.

The Ethereum price has dropped by 2% in the past 24 hours, falling to $1,792 as the cryptocurrency market as a whole drops by the same percentage.

According to a recent report by CoinShares published on Monday, crypto funds have posted a net inflow for the fourth consecutive week, totaling $179 million. While Bitcoin products grabbed the largest slice of the influx, Solana led in altcoin investments, creating a dynamic shift in digital asset inflows.

The news caused more than $100 million in liquidations,» said Edul Patel, CEO of Mudrex.

While BNB, XRP, Dogecoin, Tron, and Polkadot also declined.

This price movement is in the wake of US non-farm payroll data reporting 336,000 jobs added in September versus economist forecasts for just 170,000. If BTC remains well above the current level, we can see it breach the $28,350 level. If not, support lies at $27,800 level,» said Edul Patel, CEO of Mudrex.

Bitcoin was up 0.65% at $27,624 as of 12:47 p.m., while Ethereum was below the $1,650 level. «Bitcoin has been trading around the $27,700 level, possibly because of traditional markets calming down following a cooling US labor market,» Edul Patel, CEO of Mudrex, said. Ahead of the official US Non-farm payroll data this Friday, September's US Private Payroll data indicated a rise of 89,000 jobs instead of the projected 153,000 jobs.

The price of Ethereum's native token, Ether (ETH), has gained around 35% so far in 2023. But its attempts to break above $2,000, a psychological resistance level, have witnessed strong bearish rejections multiple times.
