ICICI Lombard General Insurance Company slipped over 1% as it received a show-cause cum demand notice from the government with a tax demand of Rs 1,728.86 crore on alleged non-payment of GST. The show cause notice was received by the company on Wednesday, the information on which was given by the company late night. «The alleged demand and the impugned Show Cause Cum Demand Notice pertains to non-payment of GST on the Co-insurance premium accepted as follower in case of coinsurance transactions and non-payment of GST on re-insurance commission accepted on the reinsurance premium ceded to various Indian and Foreign reinsurance companies during the period July 2017 to March 2022,» the exchange filing said. Recently, Indian casino operator Delta Corp plunged as much as 20% on Monday to their lowest since January 2021, after the company said that it received a notice to pay 111.40 billion rupees ($1.34 billion) in tax arrears. Sebi on Wednesday extended the deadline for mutual fund account holders till January 1, to nominate a beneficiary or opt out of it by submitting a declaration form, failing which their folios will be frozen. Earlier, the deadline for existing mutual fund holders to provide a choice of nomination was on or before September 30. The move is aimed at helping investors to secure their assets and pass them on to their legal heirs. «Based on representations received from the market participants, it has been decided that the provision… about the freezing of folios, shall come into force with effect from January 1, 2024 instead of September 30, 2023,» Sebi said in a circular.

NEW DELHI : The finance ministry will hold a series of meetings with various ministries and departments starting early October to finalize the revised budget estimates for FY24 and the FY25 budget numbers with a pre-election focus on balancing a possible rise in subsidy requirements with the need to maintain fiscal prudence. As many as 65 meetings will be held within a span of a month, a person informed about the official schedule of consultations said.
