COST Extreme Action Research Healthcare Universities country Climate change threatens children's health: Study links extreme temperatures to preterm births
extreme temperatures driven by climate change will increase risk of preterm birth by 60 per cent, causing several lifelong complications for millions of children around the world, a new research has found. Analysing results from 163 health studies globally, researchers said they have determined that climate change will be directly responsible for multiple detrimental health impacts in children, including higher occurrences of respiratory illnesses and more hospitalisations. The researchers, led by those at The University of Western Australia, warned that lack of global action on climate change will likely devastate children's health for generations. They said their study, published in the journal Science of the Total Environment, was the first to collect all the available scientific evidence for the effects of climate change on children's health.

Target Extreme Strategy wellness trends Trade How to trade Paytm amid wild swings. Anand James shares his strategy
Notwithstanding the wild moves seen in shares of Paytm in the last three weeks following the RBI ban on Paytm Payments Bank, Anand James, Chief Market Strategist at Geojit Financial Services, sees a trading play in the stock. “Our upside objective is in the region of Rs 500-550, but would be mindful of the chances of major collapse, should we not get above Rs 430. An aggressive stance would be to have Rs 390 as the downside marker,” he said. Edited excerpts from a chat: Following new peaks made by Nifty this week, how cautious would you be in the next week ahead of the monthly F&O expiry? What are the key levels to watch out for? Anand James: As we step into the last week of February series, rollovers have started to gain momentum in Energy, Metal and Chemical stocks, with 85% of F&O stocks appearing to witness long buildup since last expiry and 53% on a week on week basis. Meanwhile, 11% of F&O stocks saw Short buildup since last expiry and 42% on a week on week basis. markets Extreme wellness Trade show country rights Ajay Tyagi on why valuation can be the biggest trigger in market
Ajay Tyagi, Head — Equities, UTI AMC, says “sometimes things which are overdone on the other side by which I mean, let us say, highly undervalued may just have no other trigger but that trigger of being extremely cheap. For those investors who are viewing these businesses over a 3-5-year perspective in the future rather than just the next three months would just start to buy into them because they find them extremely attractive on valuation. I cannot say which trigger would work, what event would work but suffice to say, we have seen this multiple times over multiple decades that valuations itself is the biggest trigger more often than not.”

markets Provident Extreme Manufacturing economy wellness rights Betting on capex story as it has strong legs and can go on for many years: Chirag Setalvad
Chirag Setalvad, Head- Equities, HDFC AMC, says the government is spending a tremendous amount of money on infra and hence businesses related to infra and investments are doing extremely well. So, that is the first part. The second is private capex has been a laggard and it has been a laggard now for 3, 4, 5, 6 years, right. It has been the great hope and it has not panned out. But eventually it will, it is not like we are never going to spend capex on the private sector side. So, that will be the second leg which will eventually drop. The capex story can continue for many years. It will bring in construction companies. It will bring in equipment providers. That is the story which has strong legs and many years to go. Clear tailwinds are visible there. A purist who tracks technology tells me AI is just a passing phase. It happened with Y2K, they evolved. It happened with the enterprise, they evolved. It happened with digital, they evolved and they survived Covid. AI is something which will be part of every Indian IT services DNA and they will fly in coming quarters. What is your understanding? Chirag Setalvad: I do not think any of us know what AI is.

UPS Extreme Election Death show Courts The lonesome death of Alexei Navalny: Russia is back to its old ways
Back in 2013, when Kremlin critic Alexei Navalny was facing bogus criminal charges, I recalled when my great-grandfather, Soviet leader Nikita Khrushchev, compared Russia to a tub full of dough. “You put your hand down in it, down to the bottom," and “when you first pull out your hand, a little hole remains." But then, “before your very eyes," the dough returns to its original state—a “spongy, puffy mass." Navalny’s death more than a decade later proves that little has changed. The prison where Navalny died is a brutal one.

Provident Digital Extreme Platform cover reports guidelines Why the circular on withholding tax for online retailers needs more clarity
Multi-platform transactions: When transactions involve multiple e-commerce operators, such as Open Network for Digital Commerce or ONDC, the responsibility to deduct TDS falls on the operator directly engaged in payment transactions with the seller. For instance, a buyer-side e-commerce operator (ECO) facilitates interaction with the buyer, while a seller-side ECO manages interaction with the seller. In such scenarios, the seller-side ECO, responsible for making the actual or deemed payment to the seller, must deduct the applicable taxes.

UPS Extreme Citigroup country stars reports Paytm bank RBI crackdown may just be the start? Banks’ rush for clients set for reckoning
Paytm may just be the beginning. India stunned investors last month by abruptly suspending most activities of the banking affiliate of Paytm, a once high-flying fintech star that had attracted backing from Warren Buffett and SoftBank Group Corp. While the Paytm case was an extreme example of lapses in customer verification — it allegedly used a single identity document to open thousands of accounts — the crackdown signals growing impatience from authorities. Hardly a day passes when a bank or fintech firm isn’t fined for failing to properly vet its customers, ensnaring top lenders from State Bank of India to Citigroup Inc. Fed up with the persistent shortcomings, the Reserve Bank of India is likely to get even tougher before Governor Shaktikanta Das steps down this year.
