PI Industries Ltd. fell 0.79 per cent to Rs 3304.55 in Thursday's trade as of 11:21AM (IST) even as the benchmark Nifty ruled at 18860.7, down 261.45 points. The scrip had closed at Rs 3330.9 in the previous session.

Tech Mahindra shares plunged nearly 4% on Thursday to hit the day's low of Rs 1,098.15 on the NSE after a clutch of brokerages retained their adverse ratings on the stock and slashed their targets following the September quarter earnings posted by the company on Wednesday. Among foreign brokerages, Jefferies maintained an underperform view. In the domestic pack, Kotak Institutional Equities and Nuvama recommended a reduce stance on the counter while Motilal Oswal suggested a Neutral call.

JB Hi-Fi boss Terry Smart says first-quarter sales are trading in line with expectations, trending softer at its Australian electronics stores and sinking 12.2 per cent at white goods retailer The Good Guys.

We are basically going to see this pain continuing and though people have a lot of money to invest, this particular fall, perhaps should be waited out for some more time for a variety of reasons. One among them would be how exactly the domestic investor stabilises his losses because in the options market, including the derivatives market, the amount of money that he has to write checks for the mark to market, will probably put pressure on the market.” We would not want to have headed further into the festive season with this kind of a market. Is everything going to abate soon? The reasons were already there and so why this knee-jerk reaction with the Indian market plunging over 800 points? The FIIs are taking the money out and the current domestic market players are writing losses at this point of time and as a result, they are required to sell some part of their portfolios to pay off the sharp mark to market difference which is coming up on some of the holdings, including some of the midcap and smallcap companies.

Indian Railways has started monitoring the demand for Vande Bharat trains on the basis of gender and age of passengers. The data include the number of males, females, and transgenders traveling on the four Vande Bharat routes — three from Mumbai to Shirdi, Goa, and Solapur. For the first time, the Central Railway collated data that revealed the highest number of passengers traveling in Vande Bharat Express starting from Mumbai belonging to the age group of 31-45 years, followed by 15-30 years of age.
