Raymond surges 5% after lifestyle business demerger
Shares of Raymond surged 5% to ₹2,001 on the NSE on Thursday after the demerger of its lifestyle business took effect. The company had set Thursday as the record date for the demerger. The demerged entity, Raymond Lifestyle, is expected to be listed separately in a month or two, according to analysts. As part of the group restructuring process, Raymond demerged its lifestyle business into a separate company. Raymond shareholders will receive four equity shares of Raymond Lifestyle for every five shares held in Raymond.

Coaches of Panchavati Express get detached, nobody hurt; journey resumes after 40-minute delay
Coaches of an express train running between Nashik district and Mumbai got uncoupled at Kasara in neighbouring Thane on Saturday morning, in which no passenger was hurt, a railway official said. The train resumed its journey after 40 minutes when the coaches were re-attached, he said. The Panchavati Express train that began its journey from Manmad junction in Nashik district and was on its way to Mumbai, got uncoupled at Kasara railway station, about 128 km from Mumbai, Central Railway's chief public relations officer Swapnil Nila said. The incident occurred when the train was moving out of the Kasara station around 8.40 am, he said. «The train was uncoupled between coach number four and five. We will check why the coaches got uncoupled,» he said.

Temasek may buy ₹900 crore stake in medical equipment firm Tynor
MUMBAI : Temasek, the private equity (PE) arm of the Singapore government, is the front runner to acquire significant minority stake in Tynor Orthotics, a Mohali, Punjab-based medical equipment maker, according to three people with knowledge of the development. The manufacturer and exporter of orthopaedic and fracture aids, which is backed by consumer-focused PE firm Lighthouse Funds, is being valued at ₹3,000 crore, three people with knowledge of the development said. “The final bids have come in and Temasek is the front runner," the first person cited above said on condition of anonymity, adding that the other bidders who made it to the final round include global PE firms Warburg Pincus and Norwest Venture Partners.

BJP and its government at the Centre are playing with the life of Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal who has lost 8.5 kg and whose blood sugar level dropped below 50 mg/dL five times while in jail, AAP Rajya Sabha member Sanjay Singh claimed on Saturday. There was no immediate reaction from the BJP on his claims. «His health condition is such that if he is not brought out of jail soon and provided medical care, any serious incident may happen with him,» Singh said at a press conference. He said Kejriwal's weight was 70 kg when he was arrested by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) on March 21 in the excise policy-linked money laundering case. Now, his weight has reduced to 61.5 kg, he claimed.

Vedanta may raise Rs 6,000 crore via QIP
Vedanta Ltd is likely to hit the market in the next couple of weeks to raise money through a qualified institutional placement (QIP) route, sources aware of the development said. The move aims to reduce debt and fulfil certain capital expenditure obligations. Earlier in May, the board of the natural resources major had approved fund raising of up to ₹8,500 crore, which then got shareholder approval in June. The company could, however, raise a lower amount of around ₹6,000 crore, the people said. A final decision on the quantum of the share issue has yet to be taken.

The Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha is visiting Gujarat days after BJP and Congress workers clashed outside the Gujarat Pradesh Congress Committee (GPCC) office here over alleged anti-Hindu remarks made by Gandhi in the Lok Sabha. Following the clash, complaints were lodged against each other by both the sides and FIRs were registered, leading to the arrest of five Congress workers. Talking to reporters on Friday, Gujarat Congress president Shaktisinh Gohil said Gandhi will also meet the family members of those five Congress workers who are currently in police custody. «Rahul Gandhi will arrive at the GPCC office here around 12.30 pm. During his visit, he will meet and address party workers. He will also meet the kin of the victims who lost their lives in the Rajkot game zone fire and other such tragedies. He will also interact with the family members of those party workers who were arrested by the police after the clash,» he said.
