FIVE Booking Election blues information travelers Department Wedding Season Blues: Voters and brides compete for taxis in Uttarakhand
Elections in Uttarakhand, coinciding with the peak wedding season, have resulted in a surge in demand for buses and cabs across the state. Families who had made preparations for weddings say they are struggling for vehicles for their baraats (wedding processions) since a large number of taxis and buses have been diverted for election duty. According to information made available by the transport department, a total of 12,395 vehicles, including 3,653 buses and 7,161 private taxis and cabs, have been acquired by state authorities for election duty. This has led to vehicle bookings for weddings being cancelled abruptly. All five Lok Sabha constituencies in the state will go to the hustings in the first of the seven-phase polls on April 19. This year, peak wedding season has also arrived around this time with April 18, just a day before the polls, being considered the most auspicious day of the season to get married. Priests say that the wedding season gains momentum after Baisakhi on April 13, and extends until April 24.

Addressing a meeting of his party workers in Ramtek in Nagpur, Shinde said he did not want to become chief minister but had to rebel after seeing Bal Thackeray's ideology being compromised. Shinde broke away from the Uddhav Thackeray-led outfit in June 2022 and formed government with the backing of the BJP. Provident Twitter FIVE Ball security track MI vs DC: Memes flood Twitter after Mumbai Indians trounce Delhi Capitals to secure their first IPL 2024 win
Delhi Capitals suffered their fourth loss in five matches, slipping down to the bottom of the IPL table. DC now also has the worst NRR of -1.370 among all teams. Batting first, Mumbai Indians posted an imposing 234 for 5 against Delhi Capitals on Wankhede's placid track. Former skipper Rohit Sharma provided a blazing start, scoring 49 off 27 balls and adding 80 for the opening stand in just 7 overs with Ishan Kishan (42 off 23 balls), while Hardik Pandya (39 off 33 balls) and Tim David (45 not out off 21 balls) also contributed useful runs at the back-end. However, it was Romario Shepherd who smashed 39 off 10 balls, with 32 coming off the final over from Anrich Nortje (2/65 in 4 overs), which might have taken the target beyond DC's reach. DC conceded as many as 51 runs in the last two overs. When DC started its chase, Prithvi Shaw came up with a 40-ball 66 with three sixes and eight fours, but the asking rate kept soaring beyond its reach. No. 3 Porel hit a few attractive strokes but failed to make the most of a lifeline he got while batting on 30. The left-hander eventually perished for a 31-ball 41 with five fours, and following him back in the hut soon was Delhi captain Rishabh Pant (1). Delhi's lower order also cut a sorry figure, with Axar Patel (8), Lalit Yadav (3), debutant Kumar Kushagra (0), and Jhye Richardson (2) falling in quick succession, giving Gerald Coetzee a four-wicket haul.

UPS FIVE Ball Features bowling MI vs DC: Mumbai Indians beat Delhi Capitals by 29 runs to win first game of ongoing IPL season
Romario Shepherd's 10-ball 39 not out outmuscled Tristan Stubb's courageous 71 off 25 balls as Mumbai Indians ended its three-match losing streak in the Indian Premier League with a 29–run win against Delhi Capitals here on Sunday. Conceding as many as 51 runs in the last two overs proved catastrophic for Delhi Capitals, whose bowlers remained wayward and batters lacked the spunk in the initial overs to go after MI bowlers, even though Stubbs went ballistic to make 25-ball 71 not out. The right-handed Stubbs smacked as many as seven sixes and three fours but his effort could only reduce the margin of defeat for Delhi, who lost a flurry of wickets towards the end to finish at 205 for eight in reply to Mumbai Indians' 234 for five. Once again poor quality of domestic talent in DC set-up proved to be their undoing. Save Abhishek Porel, none of the other young uncapped Indians have measured up.

Provident Target FIVE Strategy Election Monarch Opposition missed chances, BJP to gain in east, south, may win over 300 seats: Prashant Kishor
Prashant Kishor said the ruling party will add significantly to its seats and vote share in south and east India, the two regions where its hold is weak-to-non-existent, barring Karnataka. In an interaction with PTI editors, Kishor also said despite the BJP's apparent dominance, neither the party nor Prime Minister Narendra Modi is invincible, pointing out that the opposition had three distinct and realistic chances of stopping the BJP juggernaut but frittered away the opportunities because of laziness and misplaced strategies. «They (BJP) will either be first or second party in Telangana which is a big thing. They will be number one in Odisha for sure. You would be surprised as, in all likelihood, to my mind, the BJP is going to be the number one party in West Bengal,» he said. In Tamil he said, BJP's vote share may hit double-digit percentage. Telangana, Odisha, West Bengal, Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, Bihar and Kerala together account for 204 seats in the 543-member Lok Sabha but the BJP couldn't cross 50 seats in all these states put together either in 2014 or 2019 when it won 29 and 47 constituencies respectively.
