But despite that, hybrids have been doing pretty well. In the last six months, hybrids have been outselling EVs. A total of 52,500 approximately in the last six months against 48,300 for EVs. One of the big reasons why hybrids have been doing well is that there is no range anxiety associated with it.

The latter are learnt to be the brothers of chief minister Himanta Biswa Sarma and Congress MP Khadoor Sahib Jasbir Singh Gill, who have been posted at Assam's Sonitpur and Punjab's Bhatinda, respectively. They have been moved out in view of their «kinship or familial association with the elected political representatives». The poll panel said in a statement on Thursday that the officials in these two districts have been transferred as «pre-emptive measures to dispel any apprehensions of the administration being biased or perceived to be compromised». Among others moved out are SPs of Chhota Udaipur and Ahmedabad Rural districts in Gujarat, SSPs of Pathankot, Fazilka, Jalandhar Rural and Malerkotla districts in Punjab, DM of Dhenkanal and SPs of Deogarh and Cuttack Rural districts in Odisha and DM of Purba Medinipur, Jhargram, Purba Bardhaman and Birbhum districts.

Tata Projects has picked up over 120,000 sq ft office space in Mumbai's Powai suburb through a long-term lease to set up its headquarters that can accommodate around 1,000 employees, said people with direct knowledge of the development. The company has leased the space in commercial tower Cignus Powai, which is a project of K Raheja Corp's hospitality business Chalet Hotels, for five years. The Tata Sons subsidiary will be paying rentals of nearly '86 crore through the tenure of the lease. «While the company has leased office space spread across two floors under this deal, it may consider picking up one more floor for further growth and expansion. As per the agreement, the lease has a lock-in period of three years and standard clause of rental escalation,» said one of the persons cited above.

Supreme Court on Thursday questioned the Centre over the procedure adopted for the appointment of election commissioners and asked how six names were shortlisted from 200 within a few hours. A bench of Justices Sanjiv Khanna and Dipankar Datta said the selection committee should have been given more time to apply its mind on the appointment of the election commissioners. «For one vacancy, there were five names. For two, you send six names. Why not 10? This is the language of the statute — for one vacancy, five names have to be recommended. This appears from the record,» the bench told Solicitor General Tushar Mehta, appearing for the Centre. «They (the search committee) can consider 200 names, but what is the time given, maybe two hours? Two hundred names to be considered in two hours? You could have been transparent,» it said.
