NEET PG cut-off percentile reduced to zero - What does this mean for medical course aspirants?
The Ministry of Health has made it possible for all NEET candidates – including those who scored as low as minus 40 marks – to be eligible for postgraduate seats. According to an update released by the government on Thursday afternoon, the qualifying percentile for post graduate courses has now been reduced to zero – down from 50 percentile and above. The National Eligibility Entrance Test (Postgraduate) – or NEET PG – is a qualifying and ranking examination in India, for students who wish to study various doctorate postgraduate and diploma courses, in government or private medical colleges in the country.

Over 5 lakh beneficiary cards made in four days of Ayushman Bhav campaign: Government
Ayushman Bharat beneficiary cards have been made in just four days since the launch of the Ayushman Bhav campaign, Union Health Secretary Sudhansh Pant said on Thursday. He further said that more than 20 lakh ABHA IDs have been generated while footfall of more than 20 lakh have been registered at the Ayushman Bharat-Health and Wellness Centres and Community Health Centres for availing free treatment and screening services, he said. The Ayushman Bhav campaign, launched on September 13 by President Droupadi Murmu, is a comprehensive nationwide healthcare initiative that aims to provide saturation coverage of healthcare services in every village and town in the country. It is being implemented during the 'Seva Pakhwada' (fortnight of service) which began on Prime Minister Narendra Modi's birthday on September 17 and will continue till October 2. The three components of the Ayushman Bhav campaign — Ayushman — Apke Dwar 3.0, Ayushman Melas at Health and Wellness Centres (HWC) and Community Health Clinics (CHC), and Ayushman Sabhas in every village and panchayat — will substantially expedite the access of healthcare services at grassroots level thereby ensuring building of a healthy nation. Through the Ayushman Apke Dwar 3.0 initiative, the government aims to provide Ayushman cards to remaining eligible beneficiaries enrolled under the PM-JAY scheme, ensuring that more individuals have access to essential health services. Ayushman Melas at HWCs and CHCs will facilitate the creation of ABHA IDs (Health IDs) and issuance of Ayushman Bharat cards.

NEET PG 2023: Health ministry reduces cut-off to zero across all categories
PTI. As per details, the candidates who appeared for the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test Postgraduate (NEET PG) 2023 exam will now be eligible to participate in the counseling process. "It is for the information to candidates that the qualifying percentile for PG Courses (Medical/ Dental) for NEET PG counseling 2023 has been reduced to 'zero' across all categories by MoHFW," said a notice issued by the Medical Counselling Committee (MCC), Directorate of Health Services, Government of India.

CCI approves Blackstone, TPG stake buy in Quality Care India
Competition Commission of India (CCI) on Wednesday said it has approved the stake acquisition by Blackstone and TPG in Quality Care India Ltd (QCIL). QCIL is a multi-speciality healthcare provider, which operates a network of multi-speciality hospitals under the brand name 'CARE Hospitals' in several cities across the country. According to two separate releases, CCI said it has approved the acquisition of about 72.49 per cent and 24.16 per cent stake in Quality Care India Ltd by BCP Asia II and Centella Mauritius Holdings Ltd, respectively.

Manipal Hospitals acquires 84% stake in AMRI Hospitals
Manipal Hospitals said on Wednesday it has acquired an 84% stake in AMRI Hospitals in its bid to expand its presence in eastern India. Kolkata-based AMRI Hospitals is owned by FMCG-to-realty conglomerate Emami Group and comprises of over 1,200 beds, over 800 doctors and 5,000-plus healthcare professionals. «In an endeavour to focus on our core businesses, we have divested our majority stake in AMRI Hospitals,» Aditya Agarwal and Manish Goenka, directors, Emami Group, said in a statement. Emami will continue to hold a 15% stake in AMRI with the government of West Bengal holding a 1% stake in the firm. Hospitals in India have been buying each other at near record rates, with M&As totalling $4 billion in 2022 and $2.2 billion in the first five months of this year, Reuters reported in June. The private healthcare sector in India has seen a post-pandemic boom with global consultancy firm PwC projecting a 12-14% annual growth for India's private healthcare market, currently worth around $48 billion.

India Ratings revises India's FY24 GDP growth estimates to 6.2%
industrial growth, especially manufacturing growth continues to be tepid," the report said. The Indian economy grew at 7.8% in the first quarter of the current fiscal year on higher government and private capital expenditure, and strong services growth. “All these risks will continue to weigh and restrict India’s GDP growth to 6.2% in FY24 (FY23: 7.2%), and the quarterly GDP growth, which came in at 7.8% in 1QFY24, is slated to slow down sequentially in the remaining three quarters of FY24," said Sunil Kumar Sinha, Principal Economist, India Ratings and Research.
