No snow winter? What Canadians should expect for the rest of the season
snow? Turns out, they may not have to wait much longer.Global News chief meteorologist Anthony Farnell says after seeing the warmest December on record across the country, January will see a change in the pattern.“It’s going to start in the West, that’s where the cold and snow begins, but then I think as the month progresses, we’re going to see widespread cold and snowy conditions across much of the country,” he said. The lack of both has put a damper on many winter activities from coast to coast. In Quebec, despite its southern region being hit by a major snowstorm in early December, rainy and warm weather washed away most of the 30 centimetres that fell. It’s also washed out any plans for outdoor ice rinks in Montreal and other municipalities.Skiers in Manitoba also struggled, with grainy and icy snow making it difficult for cross-country enthusiasts to enjoy the paths.Ski hills have also faced problems, with several reporting fewer than half their tracks open to the public during the recent holiday season. The lack of snow is not necessarily surprising given the presence of El Niño, with Farnell having forecast last month that nearly the entire country would see milder weather through much of December. As for the blast of cold previously forecast to hit around the holidays, well, that has changed slightly, Farnell said, but the cold is still “definitely coming.”“The big question is, does it stay?” he said.

A spokesperson at MG Motor India declined to comment. During their visit, the dealers were showcased a line-up of models—some of which would be launched in India over the next 24 months, said several dealers who attended the meet earlier this month. With slew of new launches, Auto Inc set for a happy new year
car models will be unveiled or go on sale in 2024 as automakers ride on the momentum of the past two years and launch new battery-run vehicles as part of the transition to electric. This will be the highest number of new model introductions in the non-luxury segment in the last few years. Besides electric vehicles (EVs), they will include facelifts of existing models. New launches typically add 8-10% of total volume growth for automakers, potentially translating into 250,000-300,000 units of incremental volume, taking the domestic aggregate to a record 4.3-4.4 million units next year.

We are expecting to build land banks in all auto regions: Sunil Bohra, UNO Minda
Sunil Bohra, Group CFO & CEO, UNO Minda, says “we are expecting to build a land bank in each of the auto regions. We already bought around 86 acres of land in Pune, in Maharashtra, we are working to acquire land in Gujarat, in Haryana and also in Tamil Nadu. So overall, in addition to Rs 700-800 crore of capex, we might be spending somewhere around Rs 500 to 600 crore on land in next six to nine months.” Let us talk about the new plant that you are putting up because it is an entry into seat recliners for four-wheelers and the passenger vehicle space. What about the new products that you will start manufacturing there? What is the revenue potential that you foresee? Sunil Bohra: So, the new plant, which we have just commissioned in Gujarat, is for a mechanism for seat recliners, not even the full recliners. When we entered into a JV with Tachi-S, which is the global major in seating, PV seating, our endeavour was to move into seating business step by step. We already are present in the seating business through Harita seating, which we acquired two years back. We are already in two-wheeler seating, CV seating, off-road seating, but we are not in a big way in PV seating. So, that was the background for the joint venture with Tachi-S.
