A gallery that tells why antique textiles are living traditions only in India
phulkari embroidery, cholis with kaanchi (mirror embroidery) from Gujarat, brocade on quilt covers and saris, tie-and-dye odhanis, Naga shawls, jamdanis, telia rumal from Andhra Pradesh and batik rumal from West Bengal—all introducing the viewer to ancient textiles starting from the 18th century. (Unlike painting, when it comes to textiles, something that belongs to 18th century is considered ancient, because cloth is more delicate and tends to perish faster.) Then the gallery takes a turn into the modernisation of traditional textiles, highlighting pieces from the Vishwakarma exhibitions, led by the late Martand Singh from the 1970s onwards. These shows were a series of seven textile art and history exhibitions from 1982-92 that documented the introduction of design to crafts communities.

‘Factory’ is no longer a dirty word to cities
Nanotronics is a science and technology company that manufactures real things, not just ideas. Think of factories and you tend to think of mass and mess: crowds of people doing low-paid work amidst noise and pollution. Nanotronics is the opposite: There are only a handful of people around and everything is neat and tidy — and pin-drop quite (except, presumably, when the Steinway is played). Nanotronics specializes in applying AI to the manufacturing process in order to eliminate defects and reduce waste. The company designs and produces machines that can detect miniscule variations in products and processes. This means that it depends on having researchers and technicians working side by side. It also produces what it calls “Cubefabs,” modular chip manufacturing facilities that Nanotronics then ships around the world. “We like to build things in city centers,” says Williams.

RBI flags risks emerging from over-reliance on third party vendors
third party vendors by financial institutions. Speaking at a convention organised by the International Association of Deposit Insurers, RBI deputy Governor J Swaminathan called upon banks to exercise caution to guard them against potential vulnerabilities while working with third party vendors. He also called upon deposit insurers to tie insurance premiums to the level of risk posed by individual financial institutions. “The digital transformation in banking has also led to a multitude of distinct third-party entities getting involved in the provision of a single product or service, creating a complex web of technical and operational dependencies,” said J Swaminathan, DG, RBI. “The impact of failure in any link in this chain can often be catastrophic as was seen in a global IT services outage incident last month. Third parties could be points of intrusion for ransomware and other cyber threats.” Last month, C-edge Technologies a third party IT vendor jointly owned by Tata Consultancy Services and State Bank of India faced a
