Australia’s manufacturing sector requires huge amounts of heat and that hasn’t really changed since our first factories were built. While there’s now plenty of robots and advanced electronics in some industries, heavy industrial manufacturing such as the production of steel and cement hasn’t really changed in over 100 years.

Ukraine minister says he wants to turn his country into a weapons production hub for the West
Ukraine's newly appointed head of defense industry says he is working tirelessly to ramp up local arms production and wants to turn the country into a weapons production hub for the West. Oleksandr Kamysyhin, the minister for strategic industries of Ukraine, said that Russia's invasion of his country and the Israel-Hamas war raging in the Middle East have highlighted the need for countries to spend on their defense systems. «We're really focusing on making Ukraine the arsenal of the free world,» Kamyshin told The Associated Press in an interview late Friday. Kamyshyn said approximately 500 companies in Ukraine's defense industry are contributing to the country's efforts to increase weapons production in order to counter Russia's attempts to seize more territory. Among those are 70 state-owned factories, over 200 primarily private factories producing unmanned systems, and more than 200 private sector companies involved in the production of various types of weaponry and ammunition. «We are focused on producing all types of weapons and ammunition, and we show that we can test it on the battlefield and make it better during the war,» Kamyshin said.

Warren Buffett says, “A full wallet is like a full bladder; you may have the urge to pee it away!" When there is abundance, many companies add greater capacities than required and some become lax on financial prudence. As a result, good times lay the seeds of tough times. The last large investment cycle that India witnessed was in the 2003-2007 period.

IPOs next week: Protean eGov Tech, ASK Automotive among 4 IPOs set to light up market in run-up to Diwali
Apart from new offers, markets will also see listings of Cello World and Mamaearth, whose IPOs hit the Street a few days ago. Given the massive rush of public issues this year, India’s share (number of IPOs) in the global pie has increased sharply from just 6% in 2021 to 13% in the first half of 2023. Analysts expect this momentum to continue in the near future with the much-anticipated Tata Technologies IPO likely to be launched in the third or fourth week of November. «The stampede to market is expected to keep going well into 2024, with investors encouraged by strong listing gains and a robust economy. This month alone, there are 14 IPOs slated,» said Mahavir Lunawat, MD, Pantomath Capital Advisors. Next week, Protean eGov Technologies and ASK Automotive are planning to raise a cumulative Rs 1,324 crore through their public offers.
