ED at two Hero offices, Pawan Munjal’s house
NEW DELHI : The Enforcement Directorate (ED), the federal agency responsible for investigating money laundering and other financial irregularities, on Tuesday conducted searches at the premises of two-wheeler maker Hero MotoCorp Ltd and the residence of executive chairman Pawan Munjal, two people familiar with the development said. Existing ACC battery units may be able to apply for PLI
NEW DELHI : The government is considering a proposal to allow existing advanced chemistry cell (ACC) battery storage projects to apply for unutilized capacity under the production-linked incentive (PLI) scheme for the sector, two people aware of the matter said. At a 24 July meeting, some industry executives proposed allowing brownfield projects to apply for the capacity not allotted to greenfield projects, according to the people cited above. Currently, only greenfield projects are eligible for the scheme.

Gujarat aims to become chip-making hub
GANDHINAGAR : The Gujarat government is pitching the state as the sole destination for semiconductor manufacturing and allied investments in India, with officials having discussed with over 100 companies across the gamut of manufacturers and suppliers. “At least half-a-dozen players are in advanced discussions, including wafer fabs, display fabs, OSAT (outsourced semiconductor assembly and test) players and suppliers," a senior state government official said, asking not to be named.

Industry activity remains strong on new export orders
Manufacturing activity continued its strong momentum in July even as a marginally softer rate of expansion in output and new orders brought down the PMI reading for the month to 57.7 from 57.8 in June. The seasonally adjusted S&P Global India Manufacturing Purchasing Managers' Index (PMI) for July released on Tuesday pointed to an improvement in overall operating conditions for the 25th straight month. In PMI parlance, a print above 50 means expansion while a score below 50 indicates contraction.
