Singapore's High Commissioner to India, Simon Wong, in a social media post today morning highlighted a spelling error in the name of his country on a signboard installed near the high commission. Mr Wong, likely discovered the gaffe while on his morning walk, took to X and asked the MCD to do a 'spell check' before installing the signage. His post included a picture of signage, which had wrongly mentioned the spelling of his country as Singapur.

MCD to hire a consultant to prepare a Rs 62-crore plan on how to keep Delhi roads clean
Delhi (MCD) is set to take a significant step towards enhancing the upkeep of its major roads. As per a TOI report, this week, the MCD will initiate the process of selecting a project management consultant for a comprehensive plan worth Rs 62 crore aimed at mechanized sweeping and maintenance of over 1,400 km of roads with a width exceeding 60 feet within the city. Presently, the responsibility for maintaining these roads lies with the Public Works Department.

Delhi High Court has directed the state government, MCD and DDA to explain how permissions were granted for new constructions in the Southern Ridge forest area where a multi-storey housing project has already come up. The high court was informed by the amicus curiae that there have been illegal construction activities being carried out in Chattarpur area within the southern ridge. «The counsel appearing on behalf of the Forest Department, Delhi government as well as counsel for MCD and Delhi Development Authority (DDA), are directed to file a detailed and exhaustive affidavit, explaining the grant of permissions in respect of new constructions in the Southern Ridge forest area, including but not limited to the housing project 'Risland-Sky Mansion',» a bench of Justices Satish Chandra Sharma and Justice Sanjeev Narula said. The high court was hearing a batch of PILs on the problem of poor ambient air quality in Delhi, an issue which it has also taken up suo motu and in which it has also appointed an amicus curiae (friend of the court).
