Delhi Municipal Corporation or MCD. Singapore's High Commissioner to India, Simon Wong, in a social media post today morning highlighted a spelling error in the name of his country on a signboard installed near the high commission. Mr Wong, likely discovered the gaffe while on his morning walk, took to X and asked the MCD to do a 'spell check' before installing the signage.
His post included a picture of signage, which had wrongly mentioned the spelling of his country as Singapur.
«It is always good to spell check first. HC Wong,» he said in the caption to his post.
But hours later, it seems that the spelling in the signage has been fixed.
«Thank you for the quick fix,» Wong said in another post hours later.
However, some netizens pointed that instead of the letter «O», Zero (0) pasted, though they appreciated the quick response of the MCD. «High Commissioner, while one must admire the MCD for its quick response — on Sunday no less — the fact is that the matter has not been fixed.
If the photo is a genuine representation of the road signage, it reads with a 0 (zero), not O!,» said an user.
«Still seems like a jugaad. That's not an O but a Zero (0) pasted,» said another user.
«India love Singapore. So it was Displayed in Indianised way of pronouncing Singapur,» another user said.
The quick response of MCD earned the praise from nay netizens.
«That was the fastest grievance redressal ever. Wish every government department responds with such alacrity,» said an user.
