This Hollywood A-list star is the leading Republican in California governor's race; who is he and what are his chances of winning against Kamala Harris in 2026?
Mel Gibson has reportedly ruled out a run for California Governor despite leading a recent Republican straw poll. The poll, conducted by The Lost Coast Outpost, showed Gibson with 12% support among GOP voters, ahead of Riverside County Sheriff Chad Bianco (11%). However, a source close to the actor confirmed he is “flattered” but has no interest in the role. The poll surveyed 2,640 respondents, with Democrats Kamala Harris and Katie Porter securing 20% and 25%, respectively.

Persistent FPI selling may push March outflows to record high
₹74,795.57 crore in the month through 17 March, according to National Securities Depository Ltd (NSDL) data. That works out to an average daily sale of ₹6,799.59 crore over 11 sessions of the month. If the FPI selling for the remaining eight days continues with the same intensity, March would clock ₹1.29 trillion, higher than the record ₹1.14 trillion FPI outflows seen in October 2024.The average daily FPI outflow in October 2024 was ₹5,175 crore .The record selling that month was induced by rising US bond yields, over concerns of global tariff wars following a likely Republican victory in the US presidential elections.

Kamala Harris’s concession call to Donald Trump was awkward; here’s what they said to each other
2024 election was over, the then vice president Kamala Harris made the tough phone call to president-elect Donald Trump to concede the election. As expected, the call was tense and awkward, but new information from Chris Whipple's upcoming new book 'Uncharted: How Trump Beat Biden, Harris, and the Odds in the Wildest Campaign in History', highlighted just how uncomfortable the conversation actually was, as per a report. The call was arranged from her Naval Observatory residence in Washington D.C., with her campaign Chief of Staff Sheila Nix and White House Chief of Staff Lorraine Voles, reported Daily Mail. According to Whipple's book, «Nix called the president-elect on her cell phone — but for some reason couldn't merge the call with the vice president's phone. So Voles called Harris on hers — and she and Nix pressed the phones together,» quoted Daily Mail. After Trump picked up the call, Voles told Trump that, «The vice president is on the line,» as quoted in the report.

Poll reveals Donald Trump would defeat George Clooney in 2028 matchup as speculation about actor’s political future grows
Democracy Institute poll reveals Donald Trump leading George Clooney 50% to 46% in a hypothetical 2028 presidential matchup, with 4% undecided. The survey of 1,300 likely voters, conducted March 25–26 (margin of error ±3%), highlights the political divide between the two celebrities—Trump, a polarizing GOP figure, and Clooney, a longtime Democratic donor and critic. While Clooney hasn’t declared candidacy, speculation about his run has grown as Democrats grapple with a post-Biden direction. Trump, meanwhile, has repeatedly targeted the actor on social media, dismissing him as a “failed political pundit” and accusing him of flip-flopping on support for Kamala Harris.

Trump vs. Clooney: A war of words over ‘fake news’. Is it time for a 'Good Night, and Good Luck' sequel?
CBS’ 60 Minutes, where the actor and director voiced concerns about press freedom and government interference. Trump, never one to stay silent, fired back on Truth Social, dismissing Clooney as a «second-rate movie star» and a «failed political pundit.» The timing couldn’t be more fitting—Clooney is promoting his Broadway adaptation of Good Night, and Good Luck, a play inspired by journalist Edward R. Murrow’s takedown of Senator Joseph McCarthy’s anti-communist hysteria in the 1950s. The parallels between McCarthyism and today’s media battles weren’t lost on Clooney, who warned that the press is facing an era of suppression, much like in Murrow’s time.

Did two 'Love Is Blind' couples break up over US President Donald Trump?
Love Is Blind has always explored unconventional paths to romance, but its latest season took an unexpected political turn. The season finale, which aired this month, saw two engaged couples call off their weddings—reportedly over their differing political views, as mentioned in a report by Politico. The influence of US President Donald Trump on romantic relationships became a central talking point, sparking widespread debate among fans and political commentators alike. The issue of politics creeping into relationships is not new, but the show's dramatic unraveling of engagements highlighted how ideological differences are increasingly shaping personal connections. With the 2024 presidential election looming, the cultural and political divide in the United States appears to have left its mark on the reality dating scene as well.

Trump pulls security clearances for Kamala Harris, Hillary Clinton
Donald Trump on Friday took away security clearances for former Vice President Kamala Harris, former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton and others in his latest move against his Democratic opponents. The Republican president, who has also revoked the security clearance for former President Joe Biden, defeated Clinton in the 2016 presidential election and Harris in last year's election. «I have determined that it is no longer in the national interest for the following individuals to access classified information,» Trump said in a late Friday memorandum that also included former Secretary of State Antony Blinken. While the revocations may not have immediate impacts, it is another sign of the growing political rift in Washington as Trump seeks revenge on his perceived enemies. The memorandum was issued hours after Trump arrived at his Bedminster, New Jersey, golf property for the weekend.

Kamala Harris’ former running mate Tim Walz criticizes 2024 campaign, says Democrats must embrace bold strategies
Tim Walz, known for his straightforward style and background as a teacher and National Guard veteran, has openly reflected on the Democratic Party’s recent election strategy. As the former running mate to Kamala Harris in their 2024 bid against Donald Trump and JD Vance, Walz argued that Democrats erred by avoiding bold risks. He suggested the campaign should have engaged more directly with voters through town halls, even if it meant facing tough criticism, rather than sticking to cautious messaging.
