The stock market is down 5% in his first few days of being president, which is one of the worst beginnings in recent times, the Independent reported.
Trump’s Longstanding Criticism
Trump has long been an outspoken critic of previous presidents' management of the stock market, according to the report. Even during his prior presidency and in his capacity as a private individual, Trump used to employ the stock market as a measure of criticism for others, as per Independent.
He had also warned that if former vice president Kamala Harris became the president, the United States would experience another crash like the Great Depression, the Independent reported. Trump claimed during his campaign in August, “We are going to have a crash and we’re going to have a crash like a 1929 crash if she gets in,” the Independent quoted.
In a 2012 social media X post, Trump had claimed that, “If the Dow drops 1,000 points in two days the President should be impeached immediately!” as quoted by the Independent. While this post had been deleted, he had been critical of the stock market in various other posts.
