Venice Film Festival: Elvis Presley's former wife Priscilla reveals why rock legend remains the love of her life, despite their divorce
Elvis Presley's former wife Priscilla said the legendary rock star had been the love of her life, despite eventually leaving him, as a film about their turbulent relationship hit the Venice Film Festival. 'Priscilla', directed by Sofia Coppola, is based on her 1985 autobiography, 'Elvis and Me', depicting her roller-coaster life with one of the most famous figures of the 20th century. «It wasn't that I didn't love him. He was the love of my life, but it was the lifestyle that was so difficult for me,» Priscilla told reporters in Venice ahead of the world premiere of the movie, which stars Cailee Spaeny and Jacob Elordi. Priscilla Beaulieu met Elvis Presley in 1959 when she was just 14 and he was deeply homesick, stationed with the U.S. army in West Germany. «Elvis poured his heart out to me in Germany, his fears and his hopes, the loss of his mother, which he never ever got over,» Priscilla said. «People think it was the sex. Not at all. I never had sex with him. He was very kind, very loving, but he respected the fact that I was only 14 years old.»

'Priscilla': Priscilla Presley shares about relationship with Elvis and film at Venice. This is what she said
Priscilla Presley, who wasn't a part of the press conference for Sofia Coppola's Venice competition film «Priscilla,» shared her emotions from the audience. She talked about the movie and her late husband, Elvis Presley. «It's tough to watch a film about your life and love,» she said, holding back tears. «But Sofia did a great job. She did her research, and I shared everything I could with her.» Regarding her relationship with Elvis, whom she met at 14, Presley mentioned that her parents found it hard to understand why Elvis was interested in her. She described herself as a listener in their relationship. «Elvis confided in me—his hopes, fears, and the loss of his mother. I was there to listen and comfort him. That was our connection. Despite being 14, I was more mature in life than my years,» she explained. Coppola, accompanied by lead stars Cailee Spaeny and Jacob Elordi due to a SAG interim agreement, also touched on the actors' strike. «I'm here to support independent film and my crew as a director and producer. I fully support the union's efforts for fair compensation,» she said. «I hope it's resolved soon, as we all want to get back to work.» «Priscilla,» based on the 1985 memoir «Elvis and Me» by Priscilla Presley and Sandra Harmon, will have its world premiere on the Lido on Monday evening.
