Election Commission is committed to conduct transparent and inducement-free polls, Chief Election Commissioner Rajiv Kumar on Wednesday said instructions have been issued to officials to deal sternly with all offenders. Addressing a press conference here, Kumar said the commission has emphasised and given clear and firm directions to election machinery and the entire bureaucracy to be impartial, transparent and accessible to all stakeholders. He said the EC team has met several political parties who have made several requests ranging from curbing of cash distribution to influencing votes and strict enforcement for inducement-free elections.

With the introduction of new application scrutiny measures, MahaRERA aims to ensure projects to be completed within the scheduled time frame without any hurdles and eventually bring down the complaints from the home buyers to zero. The applications will have to undergo all possible scenarios that may derail the project or may pose a risk of incompletion, the regulatory body said. «MahaRERA has laid down the legal, financial and technical parameters to ensure that there are no problems in timely completion of the real estate projects, while issuing registration numbers to new projects.

Sony Group Corp. is planning to call off the merger pact of its India unit with Zee Entertainment Enterprises Ltd., said people familiar with the matter, capping two years of drama and delay in creating a $10 billion media giant. The Japanese conglomerate is looking to cancel the deal due to a standoff over whether Zee’s Chief Executive Officer Punit Goenka, also its founder’s son, would lead the merged entity, the people said, asking not to be named as the information is not public. While the agreement signed in 2021 was that Goenka would lead the new company, Sony no longer wants him as CEO amid a regulatory probe, the people said. 

₹13,000 crore in the December quarter with the pre-launch of its latest residential project DLF Privana South, a senior executive said. The project, located in sectors 76 and 77 in Gurugram, was pre-launched on 22 December and all 1,113 flats were sold in three days, bringing in ₹7,200 crore. In the first two quarters of FY24, DLF achieved sales bookings of around ₹4,268 crore.
