Maharashtra govt approves two new metro rail routes for Pune; to come at cost of Rs 9,897 cr
The combined distance of the two new lines will be 31.63 kilometres and they will be built by Maha Metro at a cost of Rs 9,897 crore, he said, adding there will be 28 stations in all. «The new lines are important for the overall development of Pune city and its transport. As the state government has given approval, I will follow it up with the Centre for final permissions,» Union minister and Pune Lok Sabha MP Murlidhar Mohol said.

India to spend over Rs 92,000 cr to build and revamp airports: Aviation Minister Ram Mohan Naidu
Ram Mohan Naidu said that he expects India to have 200 airports in 2025, while 200 more airports will be developed in the next 20-25 years. “The expansion of airport infrastructure is progressing at an unprecedented scale, from greenfield airports in unserved pockets to major modernisation projects in our existing metro hubs, we are on track to have 200 operational airports by 2025,” he said at an event of the French Aerospace Industries Association (GIFAS). Naidu said that the airlines have increased their capacity by almost 9% this year, with 240 million seats across both the domestic and international markets.

Motilal cuts Nifty EPS estimates by 4%, picks 20 stocks ahead of Q2 results
Nifty earnings expected to grow marginally by 2% YoY in 2QFY25 (lowest in 17 quarters), domestic brokerage firm Motilal Oswal (MOFSL) has cut its FY25E Nifty EPS by 4% to Rs 1,072 while picking HDFC Bank, ICICI Bank and Bharti Airtel among 20 stocks as its top ideas. “We have reduced our FY25E and FY26E Nifty EPS estimates by 4%/3.6% to Rs 1,072 and Rs 1,269, respectively. Metals and O&G have driven 80% of the 4% cut in FY25E Nifty earnings. We estimate the Nifty EPS to grow 7%/18% in FY25/FY26,” said the domestic brokerage firm.

Cabinet allocates Rs 1 lakh crore to boost farm productivity
PM-RKVY) and Krishonnati Yojana-to improve farmers' income and food security, allocating ₹1,01,321 crore. It has also approved the National Mission on Edible Oils-Oilseeds (NMEO-Oilseeds) to make India self-reliant in oilseed production, allocating Rs 10,103 crore. Cabinet approves Rs 63,246 crore Chennai metro Phase II; Bonus and rewads for Railway, port workers ahead of festive season
Union Cabinet approved the second phase of the Chennai Metro Rail Project at a financial outlay of Rs 63,246 crore Thursday. There will be three corridors in this phase spanning 118.9 kilometres (kms) covering 128 stations, an official statement said. The Cabinet also approved Productivity Linked Bonus (PLB) worth Rs 2028.57 crore for 78 days to 11.72 crore railway employees. In addition to these, a modified Productivity Linked Reward (PLR) Scheme for the major ports and dock labour board employees got the cabinet nod. “Chennai’s population is expected to reach 1.8 crore (from 1.2 crore in 2026) by 2048, so it is very important to create infrastructure for this city,” Union Minister for Railways, Information Broadcasting, and Information Technology, Ashwini Vaishnaw told journalists after the Cabinet meeting. The approved metro corridors will connect North to South and East to the West of Chennai. Once Phase-II is fully operational, Chennai city will have a metro rail network of 173 kms, the statement said.
