China’s Midea moves ahead with Hong Kong’s likely biggest listing this year
Chinese appliance maker Midea Group has started taking orders from investors for an initial public offering to raise up to US$3.46 billion, which, if successful, would be the biggest such fundraising deal in Hong Kong this year. Foshan-based Midea is selling a total of 492.14 million shares at a price range of HK$52.00-HK$54.80, equivalent to US$6.67-US$7.03 a share, Midea said in a filing Monday. At the top end of the range, the IPO size would be US$3.46 billion and surpass tea shop giant Sichuan Baicha Baidao Industrial’s around US$315 million listing in April.

FPIs invest Rs 11,000 cr in equities in 1st week of September
Foreign investors infused nearly ₹11,000 crore in domestic equities in the first week of the month owing to resilience of the Indian market and expectations of rate cut in the US. Foreign Portfolio Investors (FPIs) have been consistently buying equities since June. Before that, they had pulled out funds to the tune of ₹34,252 crore in April-May.

FPIs inject Rs 11,366 cr in debt market in Aug; inflow tally crosses Rs 1 lakh cr for 2024
debt market so far this month, pushing the net inflow tally in the debt segment to over the Rs 1-lakh-crore mark. Foreign investors' strong buying interest in the Indian debt market can be attributed to India's inclusion in JP Morgan's Emerging Market government bond indices in June this year. According to data with the depositories, Foreign Portfolio Investors (FPIs) injected Rs 11,366 crore in the debt market this month (till August 24).

Europe-based funds gather €48.4bn in July as bond strategies record highest monthly inflow in five years
According to Morningstar's Asset Flows report, the surge in monthly inflows came on the back of strong interest in fixed income strategies, which attracted €42.6bn of net inflows in July, marking the strongest month since June 2019. Foreign investors continued their relentless selling in the Indian equity markets in August, offloading shares worth Rs 21,201 crore due to the unwinding of the yen carry trade, recession fears in the US and ongoing geopolitical conflicts. This came after an inflow of Rs 32,365 crore in July and Rs 26,565 crore in June, data with the depositories showed. investors injected Rs 30,772 crore into Indian equities so far this month, driven by hopes of continued policy reforms, sustained economic growth and a better-than-expected earnings season.
