GAIL (India) Ltd. gained 0.36 per cent to Rs 124.7 in Thursday's trade as of 12:28PM (IST). The stock hit a high price of Rs 125.5 and low of Rs 123.6 during the session. The return on equity (ROE) for the stock stood at 8.64 per cent.

Bandhan Mutual Fund has filed a draft for a multi asset allocation fund. Bandhan Multi Asset Allocation Fund will be an open-ended scheme investing in equity and equity-related instruments, debt and money market securities, and gold/silver index/ETFs. The scheme will be benchmarked against 35% S&P BSE 500 TRI + 55% NIFTY Short Duration Debt Index + 10% Domestic prices of gold. The scheme will be managed by Vijay Kulkarni (equity investments), Nemish Sheth (equity investments), Gautam Kaul (debt investments), and Nishita Shah (overseas investments).

Nifty defied mixed global cues and scaled their fresh record highs of 67,771 and 20,167.65 in morning trade on Thursday. The market was witnessing a broad-based rally as the BSE Midcap and Smallcap indices jumped over a per cent higher each. Most sectoral indices witnessed healthy buying in the morning session.

DLF Ltd. gained 1.61 per cent to Rs 537.5 in Thursday's trade.

Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index was up 55.25 points at 20125.25, while the BSE Sensex was up 95.89 points at 67562.88. Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 36 were trading in the green, while 13 were in the red. On the BSE, Shiva Granito Export(down 19.95 per cent), Bajaj Elec.(down 10.22 per cent), SMIFS Capital(down 10.00 per cent), Gretex Corporate Ser(down 9.05 per cent) and Athena Global Techn(down 8.47 per cent) were among the stocks that plunged over 5 per cent during the session. In the Nifty pack, 44 stocks traded in the green, while 6 stocks traded in the red. The Nifty index was trading 88.95 points up at 20158.95. On the BSE, Ratnaveer Precision, GCM Sec, A F Enterprises, Earum Pharmaceutical and Shalimar Prod hit their fresh 52-week lows, while Bombay Dyeing, Dalmia Bharat, Zodiac JRD MKJ, Creative Casting and Vamshi Rubber touched their fresh 52-week highs.

Domestic benchmark index NSE Nifty gained 71.2 points to 20141.2, while the BSE Sensex traded 133.19 points up at 67600.18. On the other hand, Bombay Dyeing, Dalmia Bharat, Silver Touch Tech, Avadh Sugar Energy and Mawana Sugars stocks hit their fresh 52-week highs today. In the Nifty 50 index, Hindalco, Tata Steel, Tech Mahindra, UPL and Divis Labs were among the top gainers on the NSE. Tata Consumer, ITC, Bajaj Finance, Asian Paints and Kotak Bank were among the top losers.

After staying flat in the previous session, Indian equities modestly advanced as the NIFTY50 index ended the day with a modest gain. The markets saw a flat opening.

Nifty's weekly series expires today, it was marked with long additions with an increase in price of 3.66% and increase in open interest (OI) by 8.12% where 8.61 lakh shares were added in OI, increasing from 106.06 lakh to 114.67 lakh shares as on Wednesday. The Nifty September series rollover stands at 12% with sentiment indicator Nifty Put Call Ratio (PCR) currently at 1.25, indicating a flat-to-positive movement for expiry. As for the Bank Nifty which had a weekly expiry on Wednesday, the series witnessed short covering with an increase in price of 3.87% and decrease in OI by 16% where there was shedding of over 4 lakh shares in OI, decreasing from 25.17 lakh to 21.15 lakh shares. The Bank Nifty August series rollover stands at 17%. Implied Volatility of Nifty ATM options for the current series is at 12.48%, while India Vix is at 11.63% both indicating a slightly higher Volatile movement on either side in expiry session compared to last weekly expiry, analyst Rajesh Palviya, Senior Vice President, Technical and Derivatives Research at Axis Securities said. Palviya said that the Nifty Put options OI distribution shows that 20,000 has highest OI concentration followed by 19,900 and 19,800 which may act as support for today's expiry and on the Call front 20,100 followed by 20,200 and 20,300 witnessed significant OI concentration and may act as resistance.

Day trading guide for today: Despite weak global cues, Dalal Street ended higher on Wednesday. NSE Nifty finished above 20,000 levels for the first time ever, logging intraday gain of 76 points. Nifty closed at 20,070 levels whereas BSE Sensex surged 245 points and ended at 67,466 mark.
