Nargis Fakhri's sister, Aliya, has been arrested and charged with first-degree murder and other offences for allegedly «deliberately starting a deadly fire» in a garage on November 2, which resulted in the deaths of her ex-boyfriend and his female companion in Queens, New York. According to the charges and investigation, Aliya arrived at the two-storey detached garage at about 6:20 am on November 2 and yelled, «You're all going to die today» before setting the fire that turned into a «raging inferno» in which Edward Jacobs (35) and Anastasia Ettienne (33) died. The Queens district attorney's office said Fakhri «allegedly set the fire near the entrance of the building, trapping the two inside with no exit». Hedge fund all-or-nothing trades gain traction
While many traders — from mom-and-pops to systematic hedge funds — are using zero-day-to-expiry listed options, large investors have increasingly turned to over-the-counter binary contracts that can hedge tail risks across multiple assets. It's an all-or-nothing play: in exchange for a premium, the trade either returns 100% or nothing. While critics say it's more akin to betting on a sporting event than traditional options trading, the reality is that such a binary payoff is extremely useful to investors focused on hitting target returns within strict risk limits.

Adani row: Samyukt Kisan Morcha threatens protest in support of opposition's demand for JPC probe
Samyukt Kisan Morcha (SKM) on Monday attacked the Centre over the Adani issue and threatened to launch a protest in support of the opposition's demand for a Joint Parliamentary Committee (JPC) probe into the allegations against the business group. In a statement, the SKM, an umbrella organisation of several farmers' bodies, also said that protests will be held in Uttar Pradesh on December 4 against proposed privatisation of electricity sector in the state. The SKM accused the NDA government at the Centre of shielding industrialist Gautam Adani, against whom bribery allegations have been made in a US court. «The case registered against Adani Group in the USA corroborates SKM's demand of no privatisation of the electricity sector and prepaid smart meters that will impose huge exploitation of the people,» the SKM said.

Mahayuti meeting cancelled again as Eknath Shinde makes himself unavailable
Maharashtra but there is no end to the suspense on who the next chief minister will be. For the second time in the last four days, a meeting of the Mahayuti leaders had to be cancelled on Monday due to the unavailability of caretaker chief minister Eknath Shinde. He was taking rest at his Thane residence as per doctor's advice. Shinde on Sunday had said that he and the two deputy CMs (BJP's Devendra Fadnavis and NCP chief Ajit Pawar) would take forward the discussions on the CMs post, distribution of portfolios and party-wise berths in the new Cabinet on Monday. The three Mahayuti leaders held their first meeting in Delhi last week in the presence of Union home minister Amit Shah and BJP chief J P Nadda but failed to reach a consensus on power-sharing agreement. The much-awaited second meeting of the Mahayuti leaders last Friday was put on hold after Shinde suddenly flew to his native village Dare in Satara district citing ill health.

US manufacturing contracts at slow pace; input price growth cools
The improvement reported by the Institute for Supply Management (ISM) on Monday tracked similar increases in other sentiment surveys, which have risen on hopes of more business-friendly policies from the incoming Trump administration. Still, manufacturing is not out of the woods yet. ISM Manufacturing Business Survey Committee Chair Timothy Fiore noted that «production execution eased in November,» consistent with demand sluggishness and weak backlogs, and that suppliers continue to have capacity, with lead times improving but some product shortages reappearing.

Politics a 'sea of unsatisfied souls': Nitin Gadkari
Nitin Gadkari has said politics is a "sea of unsatisfied souls" where every person is sad and aspiring for a higher post than his current position. Life is a game of compromises, compulsions, limitations and contradictions, Gadkari added while speaking at the launch of a book, titled '50 Golden Rules of Life', in Nagpur on Sunday. Whether a person is in family, social, political or corporate life, the life is full of challenges and problems and the person should understand the "art of living" to face them, the senior BJP leader said. The minister recalled a programme he had attended in Rajasthan where he said, «Politics is sea of unsatisfied souls, where every person is sad...the one who becomes corporator is sad because he did not get the chance to become MLA, and an MLA is sad because he could not get a ministerial berth.»
