Ajit Pawar expresses disappointment over unacknowledged Baramati development efforts
Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar expressed disappointment on Tuesday over the lack of recognition for his development efforts in Baramati. Despite securing significant funds for the constituency, Pawar feels his contributions have not been fully appreciated by the people. He highlighted the importance of acknowledging achievements, noting that even completed work can be overlooked if not properly highlighted. Pawar reflected on his loss in the Lok Sabha elections, accepting responsibility but pointing to challenges such as the Covid pandemic and limited time out of power, which he said reduced his productive years to three. Despite the substantial funds Baramati received, Pawar believes his efforts have been taken for granted.

The US Fed is under watch for more than just its policy rate
Subscribe to enjoy similar stories. The odds-on bet across financial markets globally is on a rate cut this week by the US Federal Reserve, now that inflation there looks closer to its 2% target and weak job growth is in focus. A rate reduction would mark a reversal of the central bank’s hiking spree that elevated America’s policy rate from 0-0.25% in early 2022 to 5.25-5% by mid-2023 to quell an outbreak of inflation it mistook as transitory.

Rising freight costs, container shortages threaten exports; need urgent steps: GTRI
freight costs, shortage of containers and dependence on major shipping hubs and foreign carriers pose serious challenges to the country's exports, think tank GTRI said on Sunday. To address these challenges, the Global Trade Research Initiative (GTRI) recommended that India implement several strategies to boost domestic container production, enhance the role of local shipping companies, promote use of domestic containers, and strengthen local shipping firms. «India can lower its risk of global supply chain disruptions by boosting domestic container production, encouraging the use of locally made containers, and increasing the use of Indian shipping companies for transporting goods,» GTRI Founder Ajay Srivastava said. Between 2022 and 2024, shipping rates for a 40-foot container have fluctuated significantly.

Four prophecies have already come true in 2024, says living Nostradamus
Living Nostradamus that have already come to pass this year are revealed. At least four of the frightening predictions made by a self-described fortune teller and paranormal expert have recently come true, according to an update from his followers. Athos Salomé, also known as «New Nostradamus» to his followers, claims to have accurately predicted several major world events, including the coronavirus pandemic, Elon Musk's purchase of X, and the passing of Queen Elizabeth. He derived his name from the 15th-century French apothecary and astrologer. Now he is trying to refute anyone who questions him by listing several other prophecies that he says have come to pass. He posted a video about the asteroid on his Instagram stories on July 28, this year. According to the Daily Star, he projected that NASA would announce in September that the asteroid would strike Earth by November.

Chatting with ChatGPT found to soften beliefs of conspiracy theorists
conspiracy theorists, believing some of the most deeply entrenched conspiracies, such as those involving the COVID-19 pandemic, a new study has found. A team, including researchers from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, US, designed the AI-model ChatGPT to be highly persuasive and engage participants in tailored dialogues, such that participants' conspiratorial claims were factually rebutted by the chatbot. For this, the researchers leveraged advancements in GPT-4, the large language model powering ChatGPT, that «has access to vast amounts of information and the ability to generate bespoke arguments.» A form of artificial intelligence, a large language model is trained on massive amounts of textual data and can, therefore, respond to users' requests in the natural language. The team found that among over 2,000 self-identified conspiracy believers, conversations with the AI-model ChatGPT lowered the average participant's beliefs by about 20 per cent.
