economy pandemic country OECD warns global economy risks losing momentum
OECD warned. Moreover, the OECD said the risks to the forecast are tilted downwards amid heightened geopolitical tensions, an uncertain outlook for trade, and the risk that tight monetary policy could hurt firms, consumer spending and employment more than expected. “Inflation is easing, but growth is slowing,” OECD Chief Economist Clare Lombardelli said in a statement. “We are projecting a soft landing for advanced economies, but this is far from guaranteed.” The gloomy perspective points to a long hangover from the global inflation crisis that followed the Covid pandemic and a surge in energy prices after Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.

Booking Manufacturing economy pandemic show track information If construction is booming, why are consumer staple sales so anaemic? Neelkanth Mishra explains
Neelkanth Mishra, Chief Economist, Axis Bank, says “construction is considered the biggest employer after agriculture. So if construction activity is so strong, it is very surprising to me that for staples companies, the volume growth has been so anaemic. I can think of three or four reasons for this. All of them are contributors, it is very hard to conclude on how long they are going to last. The first is that perhaps we are looking at the wrong metrics. Because remember that in the bottom 50% of the population, which is what we are tracking through such metrics, brands are a luxury.” The outsized bet that has worked so far this year is bet on urban India, the premiumisation trend. That K-shaped recovery has played out only for the uber rich, and it has not really played out for the rural economy per se. Even right now, the trends and the data points that you are seeing do not really point to a meaningful recovery in the rural end of the economy. Is that a worrisome sign? It is indeed worrisome.

Pfizer Coronavirus Novavax vaccine pandemic testing Covid in US: Free rapid coronavirus tests to begin in schools. Here's why
This initiative follows a summer surge in COVID-19 cases that sparked debates about masking in classrooms, leading to varied policies across different districts. Although there has been a slight decrease in COVID-19-related hospitalizations in recent months, there has been an uptick in the last few weeks, as indicated by the latest federal data. This announcement highlights the enduring impact of the coronavirus on American schools and society. It reflects the evolution from the challenges faced during the height of the pandemic, with limited testing availability, to the current efforts to ensure resources for testing are more widely accessible as schools navigate ways to stay open while prioritizing student safety. Novavax's updated vaccine has been granted emergency-use authorization by the World Health Organization (WHO) for active immunization to prevent COVID-19 in individuals aged 12 and older, the company said on Tuesday. The updated Novavax shot, which was authorized in the U.S. last month, targets a descendant of the XBB lineage of the coronavirus that was globally predominant earlier this year. The emergency use listing helps speed up the regulatory approvals to import and administer the vaccines by member states, according to the WHO. Novavax missed out on the COVID-19 vaccine windfall, which benefited mRNA rivals, due to manufacturing issues that delayed its filing for regulatory approval during the peak of the pandemic. Its original COVID shot received U.S. authorization in July 2022, long after Pfizer and Moderna vaccines were in use. Novavax's updated shot uses a more traditional protein-based technology than the mRNA-based vaccines by Pfizer and Moderna.
