India and Germany voiced concern on the ongoing conflicts in Ukraine and West Asia on Friday, with Prime Minister Narendra Modi asserting that New Delhi is ready to make every possible contribution for the restoration of peace. At the 7th India-Germany Inter-Governmental Consultations (IGC), German Chancellor Olaf Scholz described India as an anchor of stability and requested Modi to work jointly to bring about political solutions to the twin conflicts that have been raging for long. «The ongoing conflicts in Ukraine and West Asia are a matter of concern for both countries. India has always been of the view that war cannot be a solution to problems. India is ready to make every possible contribution for the restoration of peace,» Modi said, with the visiting German chancellor by his side. At the IGC, the two sides signed 18 agreements and documents, including a Mutual Legal Assistance Treaty in Criminal Matters and an agreement on exchange and mutual protection of classified information.

Kashmir BJP president Ravinder Raina on Thursday condemned the terror attack in Gulmarg in which two porters working with the Army were killed and four people injured, and blamed Pakistan for trying to destabilise peace and tranquillity in the Union territory. Terrorists opened fire on an Army vehicle in the Bota Pathri area, six kilometres from tourist hotspot Gulmarg in north Kashmir, on Thursday evening. Three soldiers are among the injured. «We condemn the attack carried out by coward Pakistani terrorists on an Army vehicle while taking advantage of darkness. We express condolences to the families of the martyrs,» Raina said. The BJP leader said Pakistan is repeatedly trying to destabilise peace and tranquillity in Kashmir.

While India has not created a peace formula like Brazil and China, New Delhi has been in touch with all stakeholders to end the conflict through negotiations and pitched for Russia's presence in peace summits for durable peace.

The recovered items have been handed over to Manipur Police.

Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Monday said security forces will avenge the construction workers' death in the brutal attack in Ganderbal, and «exact a price» that the terrorists will remember for the time to come. Sinha called for justice to the victims as he blamed Pakistan for «still trying to kill innocent people» in the region to disrupt peace. Seven persons including a local doctor and six non-local labourers were killed while five others sustained injuries in a terror attack at an under-construction tunnel at Gund in Ganderbal district. In a post on X, Sinha said, «The brutal and savage attack against construction workers will be avenged. I've asked the J&K Police, security forces to exact a price that will be remembered by the terrorists and their associates for time to come.»
