Alphabet will be acquiring cybersecurity startup Wiz for $32 billion. This is Alphabet’s largest-ever deal as it seeks to enhance cloud computing security. The price of the acquisition, announced on Tuesday, is significantly higher than the $23 billion Google had initially offered for Wiz in 2023. The all-cash acquisition is expected to strengthen Google Cloud’s security capabilities against rivals Amazon Web Services and Microsoft Azure. The 2023 deal had fallen through over antitrust concerns. This led the cybersecurity startup to shift its focus towards an initial public offering (IPO) and boosting recurring revenue. However, with shifting regulatory policies and Wall Street’s optimism about a more business-friendly environment under Donald Trump, Google successfully revived and completed the deal.

Google has confirmed that it has entered into «a definitive agreement» to acquire cloud cybersecurity startup Wiz. According to a joint press release from Google and Wiz, the all-cash deal is valued at $32 billion, subject to closing adjustments. Once finalised, Wiz will become part of Google Cloud. Google CEO Sundar Pichai shared more details about the deal on X. He wrote, “From our earliest days, Google’s strong security focus has made us a leader in keeping people safe online.”

Lok Sabha debate recordings will be made available to researchers on the IndiaAI Datasets Platform (IDP), announced IT minister Ashwini Vaishnaw in Delhi on Tuesday. An MoU in this regard between the IndiaAI Mission and the Lok Sabha was signed on Tuesday, he revealed. The IDP, one of the seven pillars of the IndiaAI Mission, seeks to enhance access, quality, and utilisation of public sector datasets to make them AI-ready. It aims to function as a unified data platform, integrating datasets from all existing data platforms as well as onboarding non-government data contributors and providing new-age AI-centric features.

Mobile apps cybersecurity startup Protectt.ai said on Monday it has raised around $8.7 million at an undisclosed valuation in a Series-A funding round led by global venture capital firm Bessemer Venture Partners (BVP). The Mumbai-based company aims to use the funds to drive global expansion, undertake product innovation and nurture talent.

Slikk Club has raised $3.2 million (about Rs 27.7 crore) in a funding round led by global venture capital firm Lightspeed. The round also saw participation from early-stage venture capital firm Multiply Ventures and other angel investors including Tracxn founder Abhishek Goyal, DST Global's Saurabh Gupta and Panthera Peak Ventures’ Nikhil Bhandarkar. The firm will use the funds for expanding operations in Bengaluru, aiming to cover 80% of the city's pin codes by setting up dark stores, expanding into new categories, adding more brands to the platform and strengthening its leadership team.

Pilgrim has raised Rs 200 crore through a mix of primary and secondary funding. The round was led by existing investor Narotam Sekhsaria Family Office (NSFO) and saw participation from Vertex Ventures SEA, Sattva Family Office, and Mirabilis Investment Trust. New investors Vertex Growth Fund and Anicut Equity Continuum Fund also joined the round. The Mumbai-based company said it was valued at Rs 3,000 crore before the latest funding. With this round, its total capital raised across primary and secondary rounds now stands at around Rs 421 crore.

NPCI) is working to phase out ‘collect calls’ for merchant payments as part of the government’s efforts to combat online frauds via the Unified Payments Interface (UPI), two bankers familiar with the matter said. A collect call is a ‘pull’ transaction, where a merchant initiates a payment request to the customer. Given that merchants have a higher degree of control over these, there is a more chance of fraud. Authorities are instead encouraging ‘push’ transactions, where the customer initiates the payment by scanning a QR code or through other means.

Public sector banks must plan for appropriate and timely capital raising and strive to reduce intermediation costs to make banking products and services, particularly credit-related, affordable to the public, said M Nagaraju, secretary of the department of financial services on Monday. He was addressing bankers at the 77th annual general meeting of the Indian Banks' Association (IBA). «Each bank needs to identify its focus on building capacity and planning road maps for appropriate and timely capital raising or efficient allocation of resources, besides striving to bring down intermediation costs,» Nagaraju said. Salesforce and initial public offering (IPO)-bound electric two-wheeler manufacturer Ather Energy on Monday announced an automotive dealer management system using autonomous artificial intelligence (AI) agents. The mobile app-based solution will allow dealers to make decisions in real time and improve customer satisfaction, the two companies said. The Ather dealership platform aims to reduce customer turnaround time which usually takes about four weeks to address. Through the collaboration, the two partners are also exploring how a shortage of skilled workforce in certain domains can be resolved. Ather Energy currently has 350 dealers across the country and will be looking to expand its footprint in the coming months, the firm said. UBS said it will start the most complex part of its Credit Suisse integration in the coming months, as the banking giant deals with uncertainty amid global trade tensions and Swiss proposals to tighten capital rules.
