F&O Radar| Deploy Bear Put Spread in Nifty to gain from range
Nifty reversed sharply from the lifetime highs in Wednesday's trading session, however, the recovery was good enough from the lower levels which helped Nifty to recover more than 150 points from its day's low. The rise so far appears to be a 3-wave rising structure on the hourly charts indicating that until the all-time high levels are not taken off there can be selling pressure at the higher levels.

All is not well with democracy, all parties need to introspect: Vice President Dhankhar
introspection by all political parties. Addressing a joint session of both houses of the Maharashtra legislature to mark centenary celebrations of the state legislative council, Dhankar also said that democracy thrives on debate and dialogue, but dialogue among political parties was missing at present. «Democratic polity is witnessing a new low and it calls for introspection by all political parties,» the vice president said. «All is not well in parliamentary democracy. We are suffering sacrilege of disruption. Dialogue between political parties is missing,» he added. Slogan shouting and marching into the well of House was a painful situation for any presiding officer, said Dhankhar, chairman of the Rajya Sabha, adding that the chairman and speaker are made convenient punching bags by both sides. Decorum and discipline are the «heart of democracy» and the presiding officer should be respected, he added. «We are also not accommodative to the other point of view,» Dhankhar said, adding that parties often take confrontationist and adversarial approach instead of a cordial one. Ethics and morality have been the hallmarks of public life in India, he noted. While the state legislatures and Parliament are the «North Pole of democracy», legislators and MPs are its «lighthouses,» the vice president further said.

American historian who rightly called 9 out 10 Presidential elections backs Joe Biden against Donald Trump
Joe Biden has received much needed backing from an eminent American presidential historian who managed to accurately foretell outcome of nine of the past 10 American Presidential elections, as per a New York Post report. American University history professor Allan Lichtman has also advised Democratic Party leadership not to think about dropping Biden out of the Presidential election race. Lichtman also allayed fears over 81-year-old Biden's psychological fitness. While talking to CNN News Central, Lichtman cited Hillary Clinton's example as many pundits in 2016 claimed that Democratic nominee won three out of three debates and Trump's chances were thought to be diminishing. However, results of Presidential election showed that America didn't get its first women President and Trump mania roared on the ballot.

US election: Democrat Gavin Newsom looks best placed to replace Biden
When cameras captured California Governor Gavin Newsom walking into CNN’s spin room last Thursday, flashing his Hollywood smile before the presidential debate in Atlanta, a few political observers in his home state rushed to social media with some version of the same annoyed question: “Why is he there?" He was there to cheer on President Joe Biden before his debate with former President Donald Trump. “Biden is confident," Newsom told reporters. “He’s got a record and he’s got a vision for the future." A couple of painful hours later, after a debate in which Biden, his voice raspy and halting, looked every bit of his 81 years, that vision for the future seemed cloudy.

Modi-Putin phone calls shaped Indian PM’s decision to visit Moscow for annual summit
annual summit surprised many in the international community, the genesis of this visit was two telephone conversations between President Vladimir Putin and the Indian PM this year. The two first spoke following Putin’s Presidential polls victory in March. This was followed by Putin’s call to Modi (first P5 leader to telephone the PM) after BJP-led NDA’s election victory on June 4. ET has learnt that during the conversations the two discussed the possible visit by Modi for annual summit and it was decided that the PM could probably visit Russia by middle of this year. The government on both sides then worked to firm up the schedule as it was felt that a political summit was imperative to give momentum to the strategic partnership. Earlier during his trip to Moscow last December External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar had informed that Modi will visit Russia this year and he is also scheduled to attend the BRICS Summit in Kazan, Russia, end of October.

At FMCG box office, rural to script summer blockbuster
This is in sharp contrast to the last two years, when fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG) companies such as ITC, Dabur, Marico, Britannia, Parle Products, Emami and Hindustan Unilever had been focused mainly on premiumisation with demand turning sluggish in villages as the rise in prices of daily essentials, vegetables and fuel had forced consumers to cut down on spending. In the last two years, more than 60% of launches by large FMCG companies have been in the premium segment. The companies are also investing in “consumer activation” efforts to increase engagement with rural buyers, the executives said. Apart from the expectations of an above-normal monsoon that could bolster farm incomes, companies are expecting policy measures in the July 23 budget to strengthen the revival of demand in rural India.

War of words between Jagdeep Dhankhar and Mallikarjun Kharge
Rajya Sabha on Tuesday witnessed a war of words between Chairman Jagdeep Dhankhar and the Leader of Opposition Mallikarjun Kharge. When Congress leader Pramod Tiwari was speaking on the motion of thanks to the President's address in the Upper House, Dhankhar interrupted him and said that he should not state unverified facts. At that point, Congress leader Jairam Ramesh said that the Congress leader would authenticate it. This triggered a war of words from both sides. «You are so intelligent, so gifted, so talented, you should immediately come and take the seat in place of Mr Kharge because, by and large, you are doing his job,» the chairman told Ramesh. This was objected to by Kharge and said that the chair was trying to bring the 'varna' system. «That's why you are calling Ramesh very intelligent, and I am dull,» Kharge reiterated. Dhankhar accused Kharge of twisting his remarks and using it to disrespect him.

An unknown retiree is challenging Venezuela’s strongman—and leading big in polls
A few months ago, Edmundo González’s life in retirement consisted of academic conferences, visiting old friends and playing with grandchildren at his Caracas high-rise. Few in Venezuela knew him. Now, the soft-spoken 74-year-old is the opposition’s presidential candidate in the July 28 election and what analysts say could be a last hope for democracy in a country ruled for 11 years by the strongman he is challenging, President Nicolás Maduro.

Jill Biden will rally veterans and military families as Biden team seeks to move focus back to Trump
Jill Biden is launching President Joe Biden's outreach to veterans and military families during a campaign swing through battleground states, drawing contrasts with her husband's Republican rival as the Biden team works to shift the conversation away from growing calls for the Democratic incumbent to drop his reelection bid after a damaging debate performance against Donald Trump. The first lady was to announce the formation of Veterans and Military Families for Biden-Harris during stops Monday in Wilmington, North Carolina; Tampa, Florida; and Columbus, Georgia. The states have large populations of veterans and military families. Her daylong tour is part of the Biden campaign's broader effort to rebound from the president's halting performance against Trump in last month's debate, which led a handful of House Democrats and others to call on Biden to end his campaign because they no longer believe the 81-year-old president is mentally and physically capable of defeating Trump in November's election.
