Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Nabam Tuki has resigned as the president of the state Congress, ahead of the Lok Sabha and the assembly elections, a party leader said on Saturday. Tuki sent his resignation to the All India Congress Committee on Friday, following the defection of three party MLAs to BJP, he said. «The former chief minister resigned on moral grounds as he could not prevent the MLAs from defecting to other political parties,» APCC general secretary Gyamar Tana said. Tuki represents the Sagalee assembly constituency in the state.

Enforcement Directorate (ED) on Friday said it has attached immovable assets worth Rs 367 crore in Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata and some cities in Odisha as part of a money-laundering probe linked to an alleged bank-loan fraud against Bhushan Steel Limited (BSL). A provisional order has been issued under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA) to attach the assets that were held «in the name of benamidars/shell entities through dummy directors so as to conceal them and to ensure that they are out of the reach of law enforcement agencies», the ED has said in a statement. Dibrugarh (Assam): The superintendent of Dibrugarh Central Jail in Assam was arrested on Friday over the seizure of electronic gadgets, including a smartphone, from the possession of inmates belonging to radical outfit 'Waris Punjab De', police said.
