With the rapid advancement of technology and its integration into various work processes, 88 per cent of employees consider reskilling and upskilling is crucial for professional growth, it added. The report is based on an online survey among 1,148 employees from June 14 to July 25, across sectors including banking and finance, construction and engineering, education, FMCG, hospitality, HR solutions, IT, ITES and BPO, logistics, manufacturing, media among others. The report further revealed that 77 per cent of employees interviewed believed that online courses play a crucial role in facilitating skill development for individuals, whereas 17 per cent hold a contrary opinion. This is indeed an important factor to be considered as in today's date, there are multiple portals and websites that provide multiple courses for skill enhancement, the report stated. But, only 39 per cent of respondents are of the opinion that online reskilling certifications are holding the same value as traditional institutional degrees. However, 49 per cent do not share this belief, indicating room for further awareness about the significance of online certifications, said the report. Many organisations still don't accept online certifications as valid, which is a viewpoint that might need to be changed since we are moving

EU looking at petroleum products made from Russian crude oil in India finding way to its market
petroleum products made from Russian crude oil in India finding way to the European market, saying it defies the purpose of the sanctions against Moscow that are aimed at reducing its ability to finance the war with Ukraine. The European Union's Executive Vice-President and Commissioner for Trade, Valdis Dombrovskis, said oil products processed from Russian crude oil are arriving at the European market in «large quantities» and the grouping is looking at ways to deal with it. In an interaction with a small group of journalists, the EU Vice President, currently on a visit to India, accused Russia of using its energy supplies, and food as «tools» of «war and manipulation» to continue its attack on Ukraine. On the issue of food, Dombrovskis cited Russia withdrawing from the Black Sea grain initiative and blocking Ukraine's export of food grain to the world market. Since Russia's invasion of Ukraine in February last year, the Western powers have imposed a series of sanctions on Moscow including a price cap on Russian oil by G7-plus nations, in order to reduce its ability to finance the war on Ukraine.

L&T, IOCL & Renew form a joint venture for green hydrogen
EPC major Larsen & Toubro, refining and marketing major Indian Oil Corporation and renewable energy player Renew have formed an equal joint venture to set up their green hydrogen business. The joint venture company is called GH4India Private Limited where the companies will hold 33.33% each, L&T said in a regulatory filing. The companies had last April signed a binding term sheet for the formation of a joint venture company to develop the nascent green hydrogen sector in India. «The joint venture is formed for the purpose of development of green hydrogen and its derivatives (including green ammonia, methanol, etc) production assets and associated renewable assets through any model of ownership and operatorship,'' L & T said in a regulatory filing. Authorised capital of the company is Rs 3 crore (30,00,000 equity shares of Rs 10 each). For countries like India, with its ever-increasing oil and gas import bill, green hydrogen can also help provide crucial energy security by reducing the overall dependence on imported fossil fuels. While nearly all hydrogen produced in India today is grey, it is estimated that demand for hydrogen will be 12 MMT by 2030 and around 40% of the element produced in the country (around 5 MMT) will be green, as per the draft National Hydrogen Mission guidelines. By 2050, nearly 80% of India’s hydrogen is projected to be ‘green’ – produced by renewable electricity and electrolysis. Green hydrogen may become the most competitive route for hydrogen production by around 2030.

But according to the Wall Street Journal, many have been impacted by large-scale tech layoffs because roughly one-quarter of all foreign-born employees are in STEM fields of technology and science.
