SEBI) prepares to introduce MF-Lite regulations for passive funds, it's important to understand what MF-Lite is and what investors should know about this emerging asset class. Sebi in a consultation paper has proposed a regulatory framework in the Mutual Funds (MF) segment viz, “the MF Lite Regulations” for the passively managed MF schemes. This proposed regulation intends to reduce the compliance requirement, foster innovation, encourage competition and promote ease of entry for the MFs interested in launching only passive schemes. “We had a very detailed consultation on that and if as a part of that you feel that there needs to be relaxation in terms of how to do distribution of those kind of passive funds. We are open to any kind of suggestions so that we can facilitate growth of these funds across the country,” Buch said at an industry event.

Rahul Jain: The guidance itself is a very wide number and when you get this kind of a guidance, you always feel like at the lower end it is a bad number, at top and it is a respectful number. These kinds of numbers are always very difficult to take a clear bet on. The wide band with such a lower number will make you think that the company itself is very indecisive about it. So, it does not add to any comfort or discomfort as such. We would rather look at the earning commentary that an Indian IT company would provide over the next couple of weeks as they deliver their Q2 results and that would make a better sense to us, I guess, rather than reading too much into this one.

Supreme Court on Thursday temporarily halted all meetings related to the insolvency proceedings of debt-laden edtech firm Byju's, asking the interim resolution professional (IRP) Pankaj Srivastava to maintain status quo for the time being and not to hold any meeting of the lenders. “Until the judgment is pronounced, the interim resolution professional shall maintain status quo and shall not hold any meeting of the committee of creditors,” a Bench led by Chief Justice of India D Y Chandrachud directed.
