Netanyahu says military pressure on Hamas working, 'cracks' emerging in negotiations
«We are negotiating under fire… We can see cracks beginning to appear» in what the group demanded in its negotiations, Netanyahu told a cabinet meeting. Netanyahu's remarks came as mediators — Egypt, Qatar, and the United States — continued efforts to broker a ceasefire and secure the release of Israeli hostages still held in Gaza. A senior Hamas official stated on Saturday that the group had approved a new ceasefire proposal put forward by mediators and urged Israel to support it. Netanyahu's office confirmed receipt of the proposal and said Israel had submitted a counterproposal.

US immigration officials look to collect social media handles from those seeking benefits. Is this new?
Trump. The March 5 notice raised alarms from immigration and free speech advocates because it appears to expand the government's reach in social media surveillance to people already vetted and in the U.S. legally, such as asylum seekers, green card and citizenship applicants — and not just those applying to enter the country. That said, social media monitoring by immigration officials has been a practice for over a decade, since at least the second Obama administration and ramping up under Trump's first term. Below are some questions and answers on what the new proposal means and how it might expand social media surveillance.

The «counter-terrorism operation» on Saturday morning targeted hideouts of terrorists in the remote hilltop area of Katlang in the Mardan district, the provincial government said in a press note. It confirmed the civilian casualties and suggested that women and children might be among the victims. Later, official reports said 12 terrorists were killed during the operation. The press note, issued on Saturday, said the operation was based on «credible intelligence» about armed militants using the location as a hideout and transit point. It said «several high-value targets linked to ongoing militant activities in the region» were killed in the operation. «Unfortunately, subsequent reports have confirmed the presence of non-combatants, including women and children, at the periphery of the target zone, resulting in tragic civilian casualties,» the press note stated. Iraq agrees to supply Lebanon with fuel for six months
Mohammed Shia al-Sudani said in a statement on Saturday, renewing a deal meant to alleviate Lebanon's acute power shortage. Under the heavy fuel oil deal, first agreed in July 2021, Iraq provides the Lebanese government with the fuel in exchange for services including health care for Iraqi citizens. Lebanon then swaps the heavy fuel oil for gas oil that it can use at its power stations. These have operated for decades at partial capacity, but electricity provision deteriorated further during a financial crisis that has hit the state's ability to buy fuel.

‘They’ll be better off in India’: American woman shares 8 reasons why she’s raising kids in India
Instagram to highlight why she believes her children will have a richer childhood in India compared to the USA. She listed eight key reasons that make India an ideal place for raising kids. One of the biggest advantages, according to Kristen, is the exposure to diverse cultures, languages, and traditions. Growing up in India allows children to develop cultural awareness and adaptability, making them more open-minded and accepting of different perspectives. Additionally, India’s multilingual environment ensures that her children will learn Hindi alongside English and be exposed to various regional languages. This, she believes, will enhance their cognitive abilities, communication skills, and future career opportunities. Kristen also emphasized that growing up in India will provide her children with a broader global perspective. They will gain insights into different societal norms, regional issues, and global challenges, shaping them into more informed global citizens. Furthermore, the experience of adjusting to a new educational system and social environment will build their resilience, independence, and problem-solving skills.
