Livspace plans India return, eyes 2025 IPO
MUMBAI : Livspace, a new-age home interiors solutions provider backed by private equity firm KKR, is planning to shift its domicile back to India, and list on local stock exchanges. Currently based in Singapore, the firm has initiated internal processes with the aim to go public in 2025, three people in the know of the development said. The company is looking to hit profitability by the end of the current financial year and is eyeing a listing opportunity in 2025, one of the three people cited above said, seeking anonymity.

Baidu on Monday refuted a newspaper report that said its artificial intelligence chatbot Ernie was linked to Chinese military research. Hong Kong newspaper South China Morning Post on Friday cited an academic paper from a university affiliated with the People's Liberation Army cyberwarfare division. The paper stated that the division had tested its artificial intelligence system on Baidu's Ernie and on artificial intelligence firm iFlyTek's Spark, both of which are language-based AI chatbots similar to ChatGPT.

Disney Star and Viacom18 are gearing up for an aggressive battle for advertising dollars in the upcoming Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024, even as merger talks between their parent companies continue. ET had reported earlier that the two companies have signed a non-binding term sheet to merge Disney Star and Viacom18. Both are currently in the midst of a due diligence exercise. Disney Star, which will air matches on its sports channels, is seeking outlays of '167 crore and '83 crore for co-presenting and associate sponsorships, respectively, on standard definition (SD) channels.

CBI set to conclude arguments against Lalu, family, others
Central Bureau of Investigation is likely to soon conclude its arguments in a special court over framing of charges against former railways minister Lalu Prasad, his wife and former Bihar CM Rabri Devi and son and current deputy CM Tejashwi Yadav among others in the IRCTC case, said people in the know. The federal agency has commenced its arguments almost seven years after it booked Lalu Prasad and others on corruption charges. «The endeavour is to conclude the arguments this month so that the trial can be kick-started at the earliest,» said a senior official. The special CBI court has said that the hearing needed to be «expedited» and «adjournments are to be avoided».

ED raids several places in Kolkata in ration case
Enforcement Directorate (ED) on Monday conducted raids in several locations in Kolkata, West Bengal, linked to a recently arrested Trinamool leader Shankar Adhya in connection with the ration distribution case. The four places where the ED conducted search operations included the Salt Lake office of Adhya's Chartered Accountant, who reportedly used to manage the Trinamool leader's accounts. Adhya was arrested on January 5 by the agency that is probing money trail of various companies associated with Adhya and entities dealing in foreign exchange and transfers into foreign accounts, people in the know said.

Corporates mop up record Rs 9.58 lakh cr from market in 2023: Report
India Inc mopped up a record Rs 9.58 lakh crore from the market in 2023, registering an increase of 26 per cent from the year-ago period, according to market data. In 2022, fund mobilisation through corporate bonds on private placement basis stood at Rs 7.58 lakh crore, according to the data collated by Primedatabase. In terms of volume, Primedatabase said, adding there were as many as 920 issuers in 2023, which was 863 in the previous year.
