Xi Jinping's US visit a rare opportunity to see China's leader up close and (sort of) personal
Xi Jinping rarely bothers to glad-hand or to try charming a crowd. His public appearances in China are carefully crafted, with fawning cadres and adoring fans positioned around him. So, when Xi landed in San Francisco this week to meet with President Joe Biden, to try to stabilize a relationship with the United States that has been spiraling downward, it provided a rare opportunity to see the Chinese leader up close and, at times, less filtered than usual. There were a few moments when Xi turned animated — or the closest he gets to it — like when a group of Iowans he had met in the 1980s came through the receiving line at a gala dinner in San Francisco on Wednesday night.

rural employment guarantee scheme for the next fiscal, almost double the ₹60,000 crore budgeted for the current financial year, a person aware of the details told ET. The government will present an interim budget for FY25 in February as elections are due April-May. The final budget for FY25 is likely to be presented in July next year by the new government.

Joe Burrow injury update: Cincinnati Bengals coach reveals shocking details
Cincinnati Bengals received a major setback. Cincinnati's coach, Zac Taylor, disclosed on Friday that the star quarterback's season has come to an end due to a torn ligament in his right wrist. The injury occurred during the first half of the Bengals' 34-20 defeat to the Ravens on «Thursday Night Football» and has become the subject of an NFL investigation. The NFL is scrutinizing Burrow's omission from the week's injury reports and a now-deleted video posted on X that showed the quarterback wearing what seemed to be a brace on his hand. Stepping into Burrow's role as the Bengals' starter will be Jake Browning. An MRI on Friday morning revealed the severity of the injury for Burrow, hours after he exited the Bengals' 34-20 loss to the Baltimore Ravens in the second quarter. Burrow bent over in obvious pain after throwing a 4-yard touchdown to Joe Mixon with 5:49 remaining. Burrow said he felt a pop in his wrist on the TD pass but was in discomfort before that play. Burrow said on Friday he wore a compression sleeve on his wrist but was not injured until Thursday night. Burrow said he sees a lot of himself in backup Jake Browning. They are good friends, and Burrow spent part of his Friday afternoon watching film with Browning to help begin preparing him to start next week.

Sofia Vergara says 2023 is 'very difficult' year after divorce
America's Got Talent" judge told People 2023 has been «very interesting» but at the same time «very difficult» for her. 51-year-old Vergara said that she had divorce this year. Despite facing challenges, the "Modern Family" actress is optimistic about the future. In July, it was reported by Page Six that Vergara and Manganiello, aged 46, were bringing their marriage to an end. Vergara is currently dating Justin Saliman and is said to be already developing feelings for the orthopedic surgeon, as per reports. Meanwhile, Manganiello is reportedly in a «casual dating» phase with actress Caitlin O’Connor, according to reports. Last month, Kim Kardashian celebrated her 43rd birthday with her celebrity friends and star-studded family at a restaurant in Beverly Hills, reports Mirror.co.uk. Among her big-name friends was Modern Family actress Sofia, who hit headlines earlier this year after revealing she had split from her husband of eight years, Joe Manganiello. As per Mirror.co.uk, Sofia wore a racy black lace corset with mesh panelling and a pair of velvet burgundy trousers and heels as she climbed into a car with the man who sat in the driver's seat. Sofia and Joe had confirmed their tough decision in a joint statement back in July.
