The Federal Trade Commission on April 23 banned employers from using noncompete clauses, which the agency said suppress wages, stall new business formation and stifle companies from hiring the workers they need to grow. The measure, approved by the agency’s Democratic majority on a 3-2 vote, prohibits companies from enforcing existing noncompete agreements on anyone other than senior executives. It also bans employers from imposing new noncompete contracts on senior executives in the future.

Royal Canin, the French pet food maker, on Wednesday said it has opened Asia's second-largest fully operational packaging plant in Bhiwandi, Maharashtra with an investment of ₹100 crore. The new packaging center, which is Royal Canin’s first facility in India, will have automatic packing machines and associated utilities installed for conversion of bulk products into retail packs catering to Indian pet owners requirements. The company didn't rule out the possibility of exports from the facility in future. «India is a place where the pet food category is emerging, we believe it is going to continue to grow. The plant will help us localise and have a more flexible approach towards the market,» Cecile Coutens, global president of Royal Canin told ET.

Moderna is expected to announce a partnership Wednesday with artificial-intelligence heavyweight OpenAI, a deal that aims to automate nearly every business process at the biotechnology company and boost the ChatGPT maker’s reach into the enterprise. As part of the transaction, some 3,000 Moderna employees will have access to ChatGPT Enterprise, built on OpenAI’s most advanced language model, GPT-4, by the end of this week. Jio has now emerged as the world's largest mobile operator in data traffic consumption, surpassing China Mobile. The total traffic on the Jio network has reached 40.9 exabytes compared with China Mobile's 38 exabytes during the January-March quarter, according to global analytics firm Tefficient. Jio also holds the second largest 5G subscriber base globally at 108 million, with more than 28% of its total wireless data traffic now being consumed by 5G users, the company said in its analyst presentation. To be sure, Jio's average revenue per user (ARPU) also reflects the impact of subscriber additions of JioBharat phone users, who are value customers, and the unlimited 5G promotional plans.
