wellness War show country consequences rights Govt should immediately start decadal census, caste census: Kharge in RS
Mallikarjun Kharge on Tuesday asked the government to immediately start the decadal census as well as caste census, saying a large number of people are being left out of welfare schemes due to the delay. Expressing concern over the delay in conducting the decadal census during the Zero Hour in the House, the senior Congress leader said India has been conducting a census every 10 years since 1881. It was conducted even during wars, emergencies, or other crises. He recalled that back in 1931, a caste census was conducted along with the regular census. Right before the 1931 census, Mahatma Gandhi had said that just like 'we need periodic medical checkups to assess our health, a census is the most important checkup for a nation', Kharge stated. He said the census is a crucial exercise and involves a large number of people who collect data not just on population but also on employment, family structures, socio-economic conditions, and several other key aspects.

We saw extreme lows and then a great recovery coming in, in the second half of the month. So, today, of course, what is playing out really is the threat from the reciprocal tariff from Trump. But generally, now, is there some bit of comfort as far as market valuations are concerned? Are you constructively more optimistic about the markets going ahead? Shiv Chanani: So, as you rightly said, that it is a bit of a contrast right now where we are seeing a bit of operating environment which is uncertain. Mirwaiz Umar Farooq on Monday condemned the authorities decision to disallow Eid Prayers at Eidgah and historic Jama Masjid in Srinagar. Mirwaiz said that even at the peak of militancy in 1990's Eid prayers were offered at Eidgah but today when authorities make tall claims of 'normalcy' why are Muslims kept away from their religious places and practices. «I am deeply pained and strongly condemn the authorities decision to once again deny the Muslims of Kashmir the basic right to offer Eid prayers at the central Eidgah and Jama Masjid, which have been closed down,» said Mirwaiz. The Hurriyat leader said that the authorities didn't allow Shab e Qadr prayers and Jumma tul Vida prayers at Jama Masjid during the holy month of Ramazan. «Even at the peak of militancy during the 1990s, Eid prayers were offered at Eidgah, so now when huge claims of “normalcy” are made every day by the authorities, it is incomprehensible why Muslims are being kept away from their religious places and practices,» said Mirwaiz, asking, «What is the agenda behind such restrictions.»

community wellness Bill country reports rights Government fully prepared to table Waqf bill, some parties seeking to stoke tensions in society: Kiren Rijiju
Kiren Rijiju asserted on Monday that the government is fully prepared to table the amended Waqf bill in Parliament, as he accused some political parties and organisations of seeking to foment unrest in society and mislead people over its provisions. With Parliament reconvening on Tuesday following the weekend and Eid holiday, he said the timing of the bill's introduction will be decided following consultations after Parliament meets but he wants it passed as soon as possible. The ongoing Budget session of Parliament is scheduled to end on April 4, and the bill will have to be passed by both the Lok Sabha as well as the Rajya Sabha to become a law. The government has indicated that it will discuss with leaders of different parties on Tuesday the timing of the Bill's introduction. It is likely to be first introduced in the Lower House, probably on Wednesday. Opposition parties are strongly opposed to the bill, slamming it as unconstitutional and against the interest of the Muslim community. Several leading Muslim organisations have been rallying support against the bill, which was scrutinised by a Joint Committee of Parliament and approved with several amendments. Speaking to reporters, Rijiju accused some political parties and organisations, a clear reference to the opposition and Muslim bodies, of resorting to lies to mislead society and stoke tensions, while insisting that the bill is in the interest of Muslims.

tech! That is what I want to say every time someone asks me, «What about AI?» with the breathless anticipation of a boy who thinks this is the summer he finally gets to touch a boob. I'm far from a Luddite. It is precisely because I use new technology that I know mid when I see it. Academics are rarely good stand-ins for typical workers. But the mid-technology revolution is an exception. It has come for us first. Some of it has even come from us, genuinely exciting academic inventions and research science that could positively contribute to society. But what we've already seen in academia is that the use cases for artificial intelligence across every domain of work and life have started to get silly really fast. Most of us aren't using AI to save lives faster and better. We are using AI to make mediocre improvements, such as emailing more. Even the most enthusiastic papers about AI's power to augment white-collar work have struggled to come up with something more exciting than «A brief that once took two days to write will now take two hours!»
