Mamata Banerjee peddling falsehood about CAA, bonafide citizens need not worry: Suvendu Adhikari
Mamata Banerjee of «spreading falsehood» on the issue of notification of CAA, senior BJP leader Suvendu Adhikari on Wednesday said that bonafide citizens need not worry as they will continue to live without any fear. Addressing a public meeting at Ranaghat in Nadia district, the Leader of Opposition in the state assembly asserted that Muslims living in the country for centuries are bonafide citizens and urged them not to be «misled by false claims of Banerjee» as «they will continue to live without any fear or hassle». Claiming that the CAA was a precursor to implementing the National Register of Citizens (NRC) across the country, TMC supremo Mamata Banerjee had on Tuesday said, «I apprehend that existing citizens would automatically be first designated as illegal immigrants and then left at the mercy of the committee to grant them citizenship afresh.» Adhikari also asserted that the law would enable three crore Bengali Hindus, who were forced to emigrate from erstwhile East Pakistan, to get their citizenship rights affirmed once and for all.

Uday Kotak on Wednesday said Indian markets are not in a bubble. There may be some «early froth», and it may be a «little bubbly» but the markets are not out of control, Kotak said, speaking in the presence of top officials from Sebi in a conference organised by the capital markets watchdog. The statement from Kotak, the founder and non-executive director of private sector lender Kotak Mahindra Bank, comes two days after Sebi chairperson Madhabi Puri Buch had said that there are pockets of froth in the small and mid-cap stocks and the regulator is looking into the same to come out with a possible consultation paper.

Crash was expected; stay calm and invested as market will revive soon: Sandeep Raina
Sandeep Raina, executive vice president — research, Nuvama Professional Clients Group, says he is not worried much about the market crash on Wednesday. A lot of people have made a lot of money in the market and something which has gone from one to five is back to four or maybe three-and-a-half. It is not something to be worried about because one, a lot of participants had already expected these kinds of things to happen. Raina says: “I am not worried. Is it the bottom? I do not know frankly. Can there be further small cuts in the market? Possibly yes. But is it a case of there is nothing but a bloodbath going forward and we should sell the equities? Not at all. Just stay calm, stay invested. The market will revive very soon. That is broadly my take on the market.”

It’s okay to go bullish till Budget and evaluate for next 6-9 months: Samir Arora
Samir Arora, Founder & Fund Manager, Helios Capital, says “there is no need to overly worry right now. Let us go bullish till budget and then evaluate properly for the next six-nine months. We have been bullish and let us continue other than the small changes here and there. The money that we raised from selling the smallcaps, we invested into two or three largecaps.” You have tweeted on ITC because of the BAT sale. You have rightly tweeted that first you were expecting the government to sell a stake in ITC. But the opposite has happened and BAT is selling stake, not the government. Samir Arora: During the SUUTI share sale, I used to tweet a lot saying, it is easy to sell this one, the government should not be seen as owning cigarette stocks. Therefore, we used to think at that time BAT may be interested in buying. But now, we see, it is the other way around. But you have to give credit to this market. This market has become so big, that knowing that there will be a $2 billion or whatever dollar sale, somebody came and immediately bought ITC. That was amazing! People have too much money, I think these days. For only 1% correction, they jumped in and bought today, knowing that there will be a $2 billion size sale.
