markets Target security Strategy Sustainability Trade Schools Nifty Smallcap follows LIFO model, be picky; 3 top ideas for the week: Kunal Shah
Nifty Smallcap adheres to the LIFO model, where the last stocks to enter the index tend to be the first to exit during a bull market, says Kunal Shah, Senior Technical & Derivative analyst at LKP Securities. “Volatility is expected to persist in the near term, necessitating a stock-specific approach. Similarly, the Midcap Index is also likely to experience volatility, and investors should consider utilizing a disciplined investment strategy like SIP (Systematic Investment Plan) to add to the index or strong-value stocks during market dips,” he says. Edited excerpts from a chat: Nifty ended the week with a loss of around 2%. How big is the support at around 21,900-level for the coming week? Kunal Shah: The Nifty index maintains a bearish undertone as long as it remains below the level of 22250. Currently trading below its 20-day moving average, situated at 22220, a decisive break above this level would signal a potential reversal. However, the index faces a strong lower support zone at 21900-21850, and a breach below this on a closing basis could exacerbate selling pressure towards the 21500-21300 zone.

markets Digital security Sustainability wellness Schools rights Sell-on-rise likely in Nifty, broader market indices: Nagaraj Shetti
Nagaraj Shetti, Technical & Derivative Analyst, HDFC Securities, says “all three OMCs have seen some significant upside momentum from the lower levels. They are into a reasonable downward correction. We have seen some smaller upside bounces in the last session. Those bounces have eroded and all the three stocks in fact are into downtrend. More weakness is likely. I would not be surprised if there is another 5-7% downside in all the three OMC stocks.” Do you think the market is readying for much lower levels from here on because there was no buying support at all on Friday? Nagaraj Shetti: Rightly said. The market is hesitant to sustain at the higher levels. If you look at the near term, I am expecting more weakness is likely for the Nifty. But for the short term, Nifty is currently placed at the support around 21,800-21,850 odd levels and I am expecting upside, short-term upside bounce from the lower levels right now in the next one or two, this consolidation, yes, minor upside bounce from the lower level is likely to occur. But near term, the weakness is likely for the market as well as for the broader market as well.

markets Strategy economy Election recommendations Schools Bull market intact but corrections to continue for couple of months at least: Amisha Vora
Amisha Vora, Chairperson & MD, Prabhudas Lilladher, says “for quite some time, the sentiment was intact and the correction was shallow and this was not so broad-based. In the last 7-10 days, there was a broader correction across market caps,, less in Nifty but of course across market caps, a number of advance declines was also very sharp in favour of declines. Once a time like that comes, most of the people, their portfolios, their positions, their exposures get realigned. There are M2M related issues. So once that sets in, it takes a little time for things to stabilise and then the bull market to resurrect or the advance to resurrect.” Last few days have been pretty rocky as far as the broader markets are concerned. Which are the areas your clients have been nibbling in and you have been recommending them to buy? Amisha Vora: After a very long time, the correction looks a little broad-based and seems to have just started.

UPS BLOCK security patient Schools Traffic Adhir seeks Modi's intervention in addressing issue of traffic snarls in Delhi due to PM's cavalcade movement
New Delhi, Congress' leader in Lok Sabha Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury has raised with Prime Minister Narendra Modi the issue of «huge traffic snarls», particularly in central Delhi, due to the movement of the PM's cavalcade and urged his intervention to ensure avoidance of any hardship to people. Chowdhury raised the issue in a letter to Modi while stressing that the prime minister's security and well-being are of utmost concern to the people as a whole and there can never be any compromise or let up on that front. «Nevertheless, it is a fact that the commuters on the public roads, who are from varied sections of the society and may include daily wagers, patients, office-goers, school and college going children, are often put to immense hardship owing to blocking/diversion of traffic, which is often for long durations, due to the VVIP movement,» he said. «I have heard and am also told of instances of people missing their flights, trains, examinations, as also delays in getting critically needed medical care owing to traffic blocks. The effect on the commuters that your movement on Delhi's roads has been having may not be in your notice and knowledge in complete and objective terms,» Chowdhury said in his letter dated March 15.
