Citadel Securities and a trade group sued the Securities and Exchange Commission on Tuesday over changes the regulator is making to how trading data are reported and paid for in the markets.

(Reuters) -Wall Street's top regulator on Wednesday proposed new regulations it said should level the playing field among broker-dealers operating on U.S. stock exchanges by ending pricing schemes that tend to favor bigger players.

This plan, which will be voted on during a public hearing in Washington, seeks to limit the practice of stock exchanges giving lower transaction fees and incentives to brokerages with bigger trading volumes, a practice that has historically given larger businesses an unfair competitive advantage. The SEC's motivation behind this initiative is to address the intricate and unequal pricing tiers that exist among various exchanges, often resulting in substantial cost discrepancies for different brokerages. These current pricing structures, as outlined by SEC officials, have evolved into complex systems that prove challenging for market participants to decipher. One of the key purposes of this new regulation is to prevent conflicts of interest that arise when brokerages execute orders in a way that prioritizes their own interests above the interests of their clients.

Per the court's ruling, the security agency was mandated to reconsider its position on Grayscale's application for a spot Bitcoin ETF. James Seyffart, an ETF analyst at Bloomberg, opined that the SEC's refusal to appeal the case before the Supreme Court does not necessarily guarantee the approval of the application.

Dr Reddy's had approached the SEC in April with a proposal for manufacture and marketing of synthetically developed Semaglutide injection 2mg/1.5ml (1.34mg/ml) and Semaglutide injection 4mg/3ml (1.34mg/ml). The company had also sought a waiver of BE study and Phase III clinical trial. However, the SEC recommended the company conduct a bioequivalence study and asked it to submit the protocol for the same for further review. At a SEC meet on September 29, «the committee recommended for grant of permission to conduct bioequivalence study as per protocol presented by the firm,» as per the minutes of the meeting. The committee said the Phase-III clinical trial waiver can be considered based on the review of the bioequivalence study report by the committee, it further said. ET has seen the minutes of the meeting. If all goes as per plan, the injection could be launched in a year, an industry insider said on the condition of anonymity. The drugs — Wegovy and Ozempic — that share the same ingredient, Semaglutide, are all the rage ever since Elon Musk tweeted about it.

Paul Grewal, the Chief Legal Officer of Coinbase, took to Twitter on October 4, 2023, to address the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission's (SEC) recent filing against the company. The SEC has opposed Coinbase's motion to dismiss the case against it, a move that Grewal describes as «more of the same old same old.»

On October 2, 2023, plaintiff Nir Lahav filed a class-action lawsuit in the District Court of Northern California against Binance Holdings Limited, BAM Trading Services Inc., BAM Management US Holdings Inc., and CEO Changpeng Zhao. The lawsuit accuses Binance and Zhao of unfair competition and violations of Security Exchange Commission (SEC) laws. The plaintiff alleges that Binance's actions were aimed at monopolizing the cryptocurrency trading platform market at the expense of competitor FTX.

On October 2, 2023, NYSE Arca and Grayscale Investments took a significant step in the regulated crypto investment landscape by filing Form 19b-4 with the SEC. The aim is to convert Grayscale Ethereum Trust (OTCQX: ETHE) into a spot Ethereum ETF. «As we file to convert ETHE to an ETF, the natural next step in the product’s evolution, we recognize this as an important moment to bring Ethereum even further into the U.S. regulatory perimeter,» said Michael Sonnenshein, CEO of Grayscale Investments.
