Cedar-IBSi Capital has secured funding from Middle East-based asset management firm Hades Financial Private Capital Group (HFPCG), the venture fund said in a release today. external debt was placed at $663.8 billion, an increase of US$ 39.7 billion over its level at end-March 2023, informed the Reserve Bank of India on Tuesday. If the valuation effect were excluded, external debt would have increased by $48.4 billion instead of $ 39.7 billion. Despite the rise, the country's external debt to GDP ratio declined to 18.7 per cent at end-March 2024 from 19 per cent at the end of March 2023. The ratio comprises both government and non-government Debt. As per the data provided by the central bank, the government's external debt stood at 4.2 per cent of GDP while the non-government sector's external debt was placed at 14.5 per cent. «US dollar-denominated debt remained the largest component of India’s external debt, with a share of 53.8 per cent at end-March 2024, followed by debt denominated in the Indian rupee (31.5 per cent), yen (5.8 per cent), SDR (5.4 per cent), and euro (2.8 per cent),» said country's central bank in the statement.

BENGALURU:The Indian Venture and Alternate Capital Association (IVCA) has sought a review of the Competition Commission of India's (CCI's) definition of control over companies by private equity (PE) funds in a meeting with the Union finance minister Nirmala Sitharaman ahead of the Budget 2024-25.“When PE funds invest in companies, they have some rights to protect themselves that can be viewed as a control position. So, the question was if there can be an exemption for PE funds," Srini Sriniwasan, vice-chairperson of the industry body for alternative assests, told Mint in an interview on Tuesday.Besides, the IVCA discussed measures to boost domestic capital in alternative investment funds (AIFs) to finance infrastructure, credit, startups and growth companies in the pre-budget consultation meeting on 20 June.The finance minister is expected to present the budget by July end.Sriniwasan, who is also the managing director of Kotak Alternate Asset Managers Ltd, asked for more clarity on the definition of what constitutes a PE investor.

ICICI Securities says that Nifty could reach 25,200 by December 2024, with strong support at the 22,200 level, keeping in mind the historical market trend in election years.“As envisaged in Feb-24 report, Nifty sailed through election based volatility and approached our target of 23400, Post election outcome, as anxiety settles down, while reigniting expectations on reforms agenda, budgetary allocations and earnings, markets have once again resumed upward trajectory," said the firm in a note.The brokerage firm further said that since 1999, in election years, the Nifty has typically gained a median of 21% from post-election outcome lows until the end of the year.Notably, these gains often come with intermediate corrections of 4-6%, presenting buying opportunities.
