Indian Navy is set to commission Naval Detachment Minicoy as INS Jatayu today – March 6. The move aims to bolster security infrastructure at the strategically crucial Lakshadweep Islands, officials told PTI. Established in the early 1980s, Naval Detachment Minicoy operates under the command of the Naval Officer-in-Charge (Lakshadweep).

Zomato: Antfin Singapore Holdings Pte, a subsidiary of the China-based Ant Group, is reportedly planning to sell up to 2% stake or 17.64 crore shares in the food delivery platform Zomato. The transaction, which is expected to be worth ₹2,800 crore, will be conducted through a block deal, reported CNBC-Awaaz on Tuesday. The block deal's floor price has been set at ₹159.4 per share, indicating a 4% discount on Zomato's current market price, as per the report.

The stock has been put on ban under the F&O segment as it crossed 95 per cent of the market-wide position limit (MWPL), according to the NSE. However, the stock will be available for trading in the cash market.

He earned the moniker of people's judge for his frequent run-ins with the Trinamool Congress government and for his scathing verdicts against it. He was also involved in an unsavoury incident with fellow judges, prompting intervention from the Supreme Court. The unsavoury incident began with Gangopadhyay ordering a CBI probe on a writ petition last September by an MBBS aspirant who contended that students who did not belong to the Scheduled Tribes category were securing admissions in the state's medical colleges using fake certificates. However, a division bench of justices Soumen Sen and Uday Kumar stayed the verdict the same day, in an unusual turn of events. Justice Gangopadhyay, however, heard the matter and held the division bench's order 'illegal'. He accused justice Sen of misconduct and said he was 'acting on behalf of some political party in the state'. The SC intervened and transferred the case to itself. While becoming the first sitting judge of a higher court to join a political party by resigning from active duty, Gangopadhyay has raised questions on judicial ethics and code of conduct for judges. «Who will trust his judgements now? It makes mincemeat of the code of conduct for judges,» Supreme Court advocate Prashanth Bhushan posted on X.

Ram Mandir inauguration in January, hackers and cyber criminals, predominantly from China and Pakistan, were constantly targeting the websites of the Ram Temple, Prasar Bharti and other digital assets of critical infrastructure in Uttar Pradesh (UP), officials told ET. The government had blocked 1244 IP addresses, of which 999 were from China alone. «The rest of the blocked addresses were from Pakistan, Hong Kong and Cambodia,» officials said. Since the government had anticipated a rise in cyber-attacks during the inauguration, all the pre-emptive measures were put in place. The Telecom Security Operation Centre (TSOC) was monitoring around 264 websites including that of the Ram Temple, Prasar Bharti, UP Police, airport, UP tourism, and the power grid among others round the clock to prevent any cyber-attack. «It was a 7-day drill to guard the digital assets as we had anticipated a rise in cyber-attacks. Since the main event was on January 21, we had to secure the assets before and after the event also,» a person privy to the details said.

India and the UK are in the final stages of negotiating a free trade agreement with time running out as New Delhi gets ready to hold general elections in the next two months. A team of British trade negotiators is visiting New Delhi to iron out differences on India's demand for more visas for its workers and a social security agreement, and UK's asks for access in India's government procurement and inking a bilateral investment treaty before a trade pact. Officials said most talks have been completed at the negotiator level and a final decision on signing the FTA now rests with the two governments.

Sudeep Pharma is in talks with Avendus Capital to secure ₹800 crore in debt to buy out its joint venture partner, German manufacturer JRS Pharma, and take full ownership of the pharmaceutical company. «Sudeep Pharma is looking to buy out the share of another shareholder and for this they are looking to borrow around ₹800 crore,» said a person close to the development. «They are looking to buy out 50% of its JV partner JRS Pharma.» The Indian owner of Sudeep Pharma is Sujit Jaysukh Bhayani, its MD and CEO, and his family.

NCLT) dismissed an application filed by Vistra ITCL to direct the resolution professional (RP) of realty developer Satra Properties India to include its additional claim of Rs 51 crore that would have taken its total admitted claim to over Rs 131 crore. Vistra informed the bankruptcy court that the RP had partially rejected the lenders’ financial claim, which should have been admitted in its entirety. Currently, the admitted amount against Satra Properties is around Rs 386 crore, wherein Vistra has a 22.25% voting share with admitted dues worth Rs 79 crore. Calculation of interest on outstanding non-convertible debentures (NCDs) formed a key component of the matter. In its application, Vistra argued that originally, it had agreed with Satra Properties to lend the funds at 18% interest per annum; however, the RP has calculated its dues at a lower revised rate of 9%.
