Even as US Treasury yields surged on worries that interest rates will stay high for a longer than anticipated amount of time, European stocks traded with healthy gains among their global peers whereas the Sensex closed flat.

Nifty ended flat on Tuesday, August 22, as persistent concerns over US interest rates and China's economic health, although the mid-cap index rallied to a fresh record on brighter domestic prospects. ITC, Larsen & Toubro and Axis Bank were offset by losses in those of HDFC Bank, ICICI Bank and TCS. Market sentiment was largely positive mirroring global sentiment. Among global peers, European stocks traded with healthy gains when the Sensex closed flat, even as US Treasury yields soared due to concerns about interest rates remaining elevated for a longer-than-expected period.

Jio Financial Services Ltd (JFSL) from all key indices of BSE, including Sensex has been deferred by three days, as the stock hit the lower circuit for two consecutive days, Asia Index Pvt Ltd said in a release. “JFSL will now be removed from all the S&P BSE indices effective prior to the opening of trading on Tuesday, August 29, 2023.

Bank of Baroda traded at Rs 190.5 on BSE at 12:55PM (IST) on Tuesday, down 0.15 per cent from previous close. The stock quoted a 52-week low price of Rs 116.3 and a high of Rs 210.8. Earlier, shares of the company saw a gap up opening in the morning. A total of 161,514 lakh shares changed hands on the counter till 12:55PM (IST). Reliance Industries (RIL) traded volatile in the morning trade on BSE on Tuesday, August 22 as investors fix their eyes on the company's 46th Annual General Meeting (AGM) on Monday, August 28 at 2:00 pm. The stock opened flat at ₹2,518.25 and dipped nearly by a per cent before reversing losses and rising 0.8 per cent in early trade. Around 10:40 am, the stock was up 0.33 per cent at ₹2,526.60 on BSE.
