Buy or sell stocks for today: On the last trade session of July Series Future & Option (F&O) contract, key benchmark indices of the Indian stock market ended in red territory. NSE Nifty ended 118 points lower at 19,659 levels whereas BSE Sensex shed 440 points and closed at 66,266 mark. Bank Nifty index went down 383 points and finished at 45,679 levels.

ITC Ltd while the conglomerate will be able to continue to enjoy the synergies for its other businesses such as fast moving consumer goods (FMCG) with hotels as it used to, chairman and managing director Sanjiv Puri said. ITC on Monday announced the demerger of the hotels business into a new entity which will be subsequently listed. As per the scheme of arrangement approved by ITC board, ITC Ltd will hold 40% stake in the new entity and the balance 60% will be held directly by the company’s shareholders proportionate to their shareholding in ITC Ltd. In an analyst meet held virtually on Thursday regarding this demerger, Puri said ITC Ltd’s financial ratios will improve substantially due to this demerger. “It will reinforce our position on sharper capital allocation, unlock value for existing shareholders and the way it has been structured, institutional synergies will remain,” he said. Elaborating, ITC’s chief financial officer and executive director Supratim Dutta told analysts that ITC’s segment capital employed on hotels business which is now about 20% will go off and so will segment EBIT (earnings before interest and taxes) of about 3-4% to ITC’s total EBIT. “There will be 18-20% improvement in return on capital employed (ROCE) and over 10% for return on invested capital (ROIC) for ITC,” he said. ROCE and ROIC are both key profitability ratios which helps to understand how well a company's capital is being employed to run the business.

₹3,979.44 crore in the purchase of shares, while domestic institutional investors (DIIs) bought shares for a net total of ₹2,528.15 crore. FIIs purchased shares worth a net of 15,647.09 crore rupees for the month up to July 27, while DIIs sold shares worth a net of 5,306.77 crore rupees. The stock market closed lower on Thursday after a volatile session.

Nifty ended with losses on July 27, the last day of the Nifty's July series futures and options (F&O) contracts amid broadly positive global cues. The US Federal Reserve raised its benchmark lending rate on Wednesday to the highest level since 2001 to tackle above-target inflation, and signaled the possibility of further hikes ahead. The domestic market saw some volatility today.

Sikko Industries(down 2.69%), Gujarat Narmada Valley Fertilizers (down 2.38%), Deepak Fertilizers & Petrochemicals(down 2.16%), G S F C(down 1.15%), Chambal Fertilisers & Chemicals(down 1.00%), Mangalore Chemicals & Fertilizers(down 0.96%), ZUARIAGRO(down 0.78%), Madhya Bharat Agro Products(down 0.24%), Aries Agro(down 0.21%) and Rashtriya Chemicals & Fertilizers(down 0.17%) were among the top losers of the day.

Ashapura Minechem(up 5.02%), 20 Microns(up 4.43%), KIOCL(up 1.12%), Lexus Granito(up 0.88%) and Pokarna(up 0.64%) stood among the top gainers. MOIL(down 1.21%), Aro Granite Industries(down 1.04%), Orissa Minerals Development Company(down 0.95%), Gujarat Mineral Dvpt Corporation(down 0.89%), Coal India(down 0.63%), Madhav Marbles and Granites(down 0.58%) and NMDC Ltd(down 0.18%) were among the top losers of the day.

DCM Shriram Industries(up 3.43%), Sakthi Sugars(up 3.01%), Rajshree Sugars & Chemicals(up 0.87%), Ponni Sugars(Erode)(up 0.65%), Simbhaoli Sugars(up 0.41%), EID Parry(up 0.18%) and Bannari Amman Sugars(up 0.13%) stood among the top gainers. AVADHSUGAR(down 2.18%), Balrampur Chini Mills(down 2.08%), Uttam Sugar Mills(down 1.60%), Dhampur Sugar Mills(down 1.26%), Triveni Engineering & Industries(down 1.24%), K.M.Sugar Mills(down 1.12%), Dwarikesh Sugar Industries(down 1.11%), BAJAJHIND(down 1.08%), Shree Renuka Sugars(down 1.07%) and Mawana Sugars(down 1.01%) were among the top losers of the day.

Shares of DLF(up 4.75 per cent), Phoenix Mills(up 2.75 per cent), Oberoi Realty(up 2.49 per cent), Godrej Properties(up 2.14 per cent) and Brigade Enterprises(up 1.43 per cent) ended the day as top gainers in the pack. On the other hand, SOBHA(down 2.46 per cent), Prestige Estates Projects(down 1.67 per cent) and Mahindra Lifespace Developers(down 0.35 per cent) finished as the top losers of the day.

US Fed. The 30-share BSE benchmark Sensex declined 440 points or 0.66% to settle at 66,267. The broader NSE Nifty dropped 0.60% to end below the 19,700 level.

InterGlobe Aviation Ltd. traded 0.37 per cent up at Rs 2547.95 on Thursday at around 01:50PM (IST), while the benchmark BSE Sensex declined 372.03 points to 66335.17. As many as 15,484 shares changed hands on the counter with a total value of Rs 392.0 crore.

Godrej Consumer Products Ltd. traded 0.77 per cent lower in Thursday's session at 01:45PM (IST).

Havells India Ltd. dropped 0.07 per cent to Rs 1299.6 at 01:35PM (IST) in Thursday's trade. The stock hit a high of Rs 1308.95 and low of Rs 1293.2 so far during the session.

Varun Beverages Ltd. traded at Rs 801.65 on BSE at 01:40PM (IST) on Thursday, down 0.58 per cent from previous close. The stock quoted a 52-week low price of Rs 429.68 and a high of Rs 873.58.

Shriram Finance Ltd. traded 0.08 per cent lower in Thursday's session at 01:24PM (IST).

ICICI Lombard General Insurance Company Ltd. fell 0.44 per cent to Rs 1362.2 in Thursday's session as of 01:14PM (IST) even as the equity benchmark Sensex traded 223.26 points lower at 66483.94. Earlier in the day, the stock witnessed a gap down start to the session.

Vedanta Ltd. traded 0.58 per cent up at Rs 277.35 at around 12:33PM (IST) on Thursday. The stock had closed at Rs 278.95 in the previous session.

₹400 crore to ₹40,000 crore today. That’s a cool 100x. If that’s the promise the small-cap space generally holds, count me in too! But the fact is that the small-cap space is littered with companies that held a lot of promise but never made it.

BSE at 12:18PM (IST) on Thursday, up 0.16 per cent from previous close. The scrip quoted a 52-week low price of Rs 557.15 and a high of Rs 775.0.

Tata Elxsi Ltd. gained 0.25 per cent to Rs 7243.55 at 12:02PM (IST) in Thursday's trade. The stock hit a high of Rs 7349.95 and low of Rs 7224.4 so far during the session.

The stock quoted a 52-week high of Rs 101.44 and a 52-week low of 65.2. About 387,309 shares changed hands on the counter so far.
